First Poll on Trump’s Naughty Word Scandal Well, the first polling results are in on the Donald Trump 11-year-old Naughty-Word-Scandal. According to this morning’s USC Daybreak Poll, the overall reaction is --- a resounding yawn.

Trump’s support did drop one tenth of a percentage point, from 46.2 to 46.1%, but Hillary Clinton dropped 4 times as much - .4% - down to 43%. So, Trump leads overall by 3.2%

Bottom line, Trump actually gained an additional third of a percentage point on Clinton.

Now, granted, the scandal broke in the early afternoon, but still bad news travels fast and overall, we suspect that this will be seen as yet another Clinton dirty trick in the end.

Digging down into the data of the poll tends to confirm this. Trump still leads with every age group. Although Trump support dropped in the 18-34 group yesterday, so did Clinton’s, and Trump maintains a quarter of a percentage point lead among Millennials.

Trump gained in the other two age groups. In the 35-64 group, Trump now leads by 3.2%.

In the 65 and over group, the group that votes in the highest percentages, Trump now leads Clinton by 6-and-a-half points.

You can’t argue with the numbers, and remember, this was the most accurate poll in the 2012 Presidential race. And another thing to remember is, every voter falls into one of these 3 categories.

Interestingly, Trump actually gained a full point-and-a-half on Clinton among women and now trails by 11.5 percentage points. What you hear day after day in the MSM is that Clinton leads Trump by 20 points or more among women. However, with men, Trump still crushes Clinton by 15.8 percentage points.

This is where Trump excels. I suspect he still pulls this out and wins. There is maybe a 2% probability he can lose but it is minimal.

To piggyback on this and to avoid making a vanity post about it I just took a pollster's call in NJ. I answered honestly rather than try to give misinformation. It was the first time I have ever responded to a telephone poll for an election. I don't know if it means something that polls are still happening in NJ.

Aside from asking for whom I will vote in local, state, and national elections, they asked me to rate individuals from 0 to 100, with 100 meaning a warm feeling for the person. Of course Trump got a 100 and Bozo and She Bitch got 0s. I do have to commend the pollster for being very professional. I am used to having to fight after revealing my voting preferences, but she maintained her demeanor throughout. It would be hard for me to do her job.

This is what Trump should have been absolutely prepared for, and his response thus far can be improved.

Honestly - everyone knew he was a playboy, he never hid that part of his life. He does need to show that not only he recognizes what he said was wrong, but emphasize how he has changed. The American people can be very forgiving, and his comments last night were a good start. Many politicians are currently distancing themselves, and until he makes a more forceful pronouncement on whatever transition he went through, he risks losing those on the fence (though, again, everyone should have known this kind of nonsense would come out - and will continue to come out for things he said over the years).

Kennedy made his Catholic statement, Romney addressed the Mormon faith and religion generally issue - Trump needs to address his history. And not fall for the trap of it being about Bill - focus only on how Hillary attacked the victims and that he is running against her and her sad history of slamming victims of sexual crimes (just stay away from her comments with respect to his adulterous companions - that only makes her a victim and that is what she is after).

The good news is that Trump will be able to reset this by tomorrow night before the news cycle starts again on Monday. If people are talking about Bill Clinton as a rapist in the context of his remarks, it’s a win. The media is going to characterize Broaddrick’s allegations as unfounded, so it’s up to Trump to give a little bit of information about all the women he’s harassed or assaulted and Hillary’s role in smearing them.

The media has gotten away with papering it over as “infidelity” for 20 years. Enough is enough.
