Republicans in Congress are plotting ways to block the Obama administration from paying insurance companies hundreds of millions of dollars as part of an ObamaCare program.

GOP lawmakers say they are looking at “a dozen” options — including a possible provision in the year-end spending bill — to prevent the administration from using an obscure fund within the Treasury Department to pay out massive settlements to insurers.

The insurance companies are suing over a shortfall in an ObamaCare program that they say is damaging their businesses.

Settling the cases could help insurers deal with losses on the ObamaCare marketplaces, but Republicans argue the move would be a “bailout” that would circumvent the will of Congress. …

Why bother?

WHICH Republicans? Name them. They have caved on 0bamacare EVERY step of the way other than not voting for it in the FIRST place (credit due, there...)

They should block this. The democrats didn't care they were screwing over patients and doctors. Those weren't the people they needed to worry about. They needed to worry about insurance company CEOs and Pharma CEOs, with whom they cut deals in order to ‘win’ their political battle. Who really wins? Patients? No. Using taxpayer dollars to prop up a bad idea, that happens to be the one you backed politically, is theft.

This money was not allocated by Congress to pay insurers. Using it is illegal. But, what do legalities matter to this failure of a President?

If it wasn’t for that b-—h Olympia Snow, Obamacare wouldn’t even be alive today. But nooooooo. We gotta give it a hearing because we Republicans are bipartisan and we don’t want the lib media to call us meanies, so she voted for cloture.

Ezekiel Emmanuel kept blaming Rubio last night when he was on with Kelly.

Insurance companies got into bed with Democrats to pass this debacle. Now that they are going belly up, they want a taxpayer bailout.

No way. Actions have consequences and insurers should be forced to eat their losses.

Greedy B*****ds knew what was going to happen going into this abomination. I’m not into class envy, but this is one where they need their noses rubbed in the crap they left on the floor. But the GOP will fold. 3...2...1...

IIRC risk corridor compensation was only for insurance companies in state exchanges and only for a limited time. Obama unilaterally (illegaly) changed how the risk corridors were to compensate (bribe) insurance companies when things started to go sideways for Obamacare.

Obama has just been spending willy nilly trying to keep this sieve afloat, and he was able to do that by using funds he gleaned because of budgeting through continuing resolution. The congress last year decided they had enough of Obamas’s lawless funding of the risk corridors and boxed him in when it came to funding whatever he saw fit.

Now he’s called out his little yappy dog Zeke to blame all the problems with O’care on the republicans, even after everyone with half a brain told the commies that there was no way in this or any other universe that the ACA was affordable and now they are whining that unlimited funds will not be pissed over the bank to keep it afloat. So much for the less than $1 trillion over ten years.

Here’s another possibility:

This is very strange .. but I’m wondering how many States are having a smoking tax increase ..?? all over the country.

We’re having one here in CA (there’s also one in NYC).

Now, I’m wondering if this has another purpose ..??

How about a WAY TO PAY OFF THE INSURANCE COMPANIES BECAUSE OF THE COLLAPSE OF OBAMACARE ..???????????

Anybody know ..??????

Failure requires effort of some sort? We won’t even get that.

Sorry, but bullsh!t. She is but one cog in the machine known as ‘GOVT’. Controlling the purse strings, and the GOP\RNC gave Zero the blank check EVERY single time.

They couldn’t even counter it on the basis of the Constitution, ‘cuz that would make people start to take note.

They didn’t even TRY to stop the process ala ‘every trick in the book’; it was the wink-wink nudge-nudge of the Uniparty.
