Hurricane Matthew Live Thread II
NOAA/NHC ^ | October 6 2016 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 10/06/2016 4:10:09 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

The northward trend seems to be leaving palm beach county in one piece!

Yippee! Great to hear good news.

For areas north of West palm to jaxville what would you say the surge will be?

Current forecast is 7 to 11 feet. And that could go up if the windfield increases due to the concentric eyewalls.

Mixed up with doc rocks

Hey now, I'm your neighbor over here in Winter Haven! I've been following the threads but too busy to check in and say HI. I'm running Amateur Radio Emergency Services for a shelter over here right now. We have a lot of displaced people from the coast here in Polk County.

Still at 938 mb and 140 mph. Radar presentation is looking better, however.

Settlement point at 6:00pm reporting 65 sustained gusts to 76 but if the storm is that close I would expect much higher winds.

Strange stuff going on with the eyewalls, plus a marked wobble to the west - and this close to landfalls, wobbles matter.

It’s picked up some forward speed, right? Hospital Comm Center tells us it will be a couple hours earlier than forecast..

The eyewall looks like it is sucking air.

Motion of Matthew inner eyewall now nearly due westward. Do not use short-term directional trends as extrapolations of long-term movement. pic.twitter.com/GGvj2Tn64A

Does that make sense in answer to your west wobble?
