. . . in which case, they’ve breached their contracts, which are voided, and now, how do they pay their entourage and small army of baby-mommas ?

I’m not crazy about football anyway. There are necessities
in life and there are luxuries. Football is not a necessity.
I thought Kaepernick was supposed to be on his way out; but
maybe this is his way of becoming indispensable?

I’m not watching NFL games until the spoiled little rich kids stop insulting my country; how about you?

I stopped over 30 years ago. Watching them was a waste of my time. I don't miss them at all.

“let’s keep politics out of sports, we’re here to play football” - the black players will just go on strike, en masse.

It began at Mizzou last year. Too bad for football.

But that’s the whole point - I’ve been a sports fan all my life; the sports go through ups and downs, as do one’s favorite teams. You stick with ‘em partly out of habit, partly out of loyalty; when the habit’s broken (thank you very much, Kaepernick) and there’s not much to hold your loyalty - poof, there goes TV viewership and there goes ad revenue. The longer it takes Goodell to figure that out, the worse it gets. And I don’t expect much of the leftist sports media, with its head up its collected behind, to ever see it.

I feel the same way. I've noticed since giving up on football that I do not miss it. It was foolish of Goodell to give fans a chance to find out they don't really need football. I mentioned on a thread yesterday that the same thing heppened to me with baseball after the last big strike in the mid 90's. The season ended at the halfway point, and when baseball resumed the following season, I found I did not care. I only resumed watching baseball in 2015.

The thing I don’t understand is that they applaud them for kneeling on the sideline, but if they hot dog it after a TD, a flag is thrown. How is that not expressing themselves?

One could argue that the ensuing 15 yard penalty hurts the team, but do they think all this unwanted attention is helping them?

NFL = Not For Long

Well said. This Green Bay fan has no interest in watching overpaid, underperforming, bling covered, prima donnas, ragging on the very country that gave them the opportunity, regardless of race, to make all their money to begin with. Said that in a letter to Roger Goodell but never received a reply.

You guys are where I was 15 years ago. I used to know all the players and lots of the coaches and stats to go with them. I wasn’t “ate up” I just learned from watching and paying attention.

I now don’t know all the teams - are the Coyotes in the NFL or the NBA? Who cares?

I enjoy trail running, mountain biking, riding my M/C and, hold on, watching an occasional US Men’s Team soccer game (where the average MLS player makes less than 50-75 thousand dollars).

Life is to short to waste nice days on these guys. See you on the road.

Liberals ruin everything they touch and conservatives cling to the wreckage.

I haven’t been to Target since they changed their policy. The trouble is, if I get strict with boycotts of companies I don’t support, I would have to cancel my Amazon account (lose my Kindle!) and never search on Google. And so many more things! But I do shop at Hobby Lobby and I don’t shop at Target, any more....

And of course, we don’t watch NFL because we haven’t had TV for 25 years. So we already weren’t in their numbers...

I'm done with NFL. Not just league management but disreputable players and owners. I started to get a bad taste in my mouth when they quickly got rid of Hank Williams Jr. singing his iconic Monday Night Football song after he criticized Obama. And replaced him with Carrie Underwood.

Then it became more and more PC with things like breath cancer awareness while making the U.S. DoD pay for appearances honoring the U.S. military.

Then the NFL sat silently and allowed players to make BLM/black power demonstrations in regarding to police shootings of thugs, while they banned any symbols for slain cops.

And it's weird how Goodell went after Brady so vigorously over the relatively minor or bogus ball inflation PSI issue. Especially when Brady went on after the controversy and won the Super Bowl and got MVP under close PSI monitoring. You had MIT engineers and Harvard scientists (albeit in Patriot country) disputing the PSI claims against the NFL. Goodell's actions and punishment were unpopular with most fans and even left even Patriot haters stunned. But he was obviously backed up by the powers that be and no doubt was related to Brady having a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker and saying good things about Trump.

A lot of these players have been ODed on the obsessive adulation that teachers, administrators, and other students have showered them since high school. Maybe it’s time we consider removing sports from schools. Or better yet, maybe just shut down schools altogether and create a virtual classroom.

-—The NFL is experiencing the Trump Effect-—

Not really...this has been building for some time...

The NFL lack of control on this issue was the straw that broke the camels back.

It been a long time coming...
