Unfortunately, Matt has another day to finish getting reorganized, but as Joe Bastardi just pointed out in a tweet this afternoon, this area of Florida hasn't been hit by a major hurricane for over 150 years (though he notes several that nailed South and West Fla. in the 1940's).

So we really don't have a lot of precedent for what's about to happen there.

A few weeks after the first moon landing, the US was hit by a category five hurricane with 190 MPH winds. Hansen tells us that temperatures were cold and CO2 was safe in 1969

Mathew is only at 120 mph winds and will go out to the Atlantic ocean. It will get much weaker too
