Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte plunged one of the United States' most important Asian alliances deeper into uncertainty on Wednesday by declaring upcoming U.S.-Philippines military exercises "the last," and ruling out any joint navy patrols.

The Phil govt doesnt want to be in a position of lasting more than half a day. This is likely to turn into a war between China and the US over Philippine territory. Whomever wins, the Phils is sure to lose. The last thing they want is war with China.
The US is looking too weak to deter China and so prevent war. Weakness on the part of the US requires re-examination of interests among all parties.
Also interesting is Vietnam holding quiet bilateral talks with China. Vietnam hates China more than the Phils ever has.
Trump needs to visit this guy and calm things down.
And yet they tell is Trump is the one who’ll alienate allies needlessly.
Iran harasses our U.S. Navy with NO consequences, check.
Turkey now an Islamic country hostile to U.S., check
Internet giveaway, check.
Close Gitmo and return property to Cuba, check.
Philippines no longer an American ally, check.
Start WWIII with Russia in Syria, check.
And so on, and so forth..

Screw him. If Duterte isn’t smart enough to know he’s dealing with a country, not a politician, then he isn’t smart enough to be cutting strategic deals with anyway. If I were Trump I’d make sure the Philippines were on my negotiations list. Just after Burkina Faso.
