“Legitimate” day later polls are influenced by the media. Instant online polls are not and that pisses off the gatekeepers.

“Next week’s polls will tell the story.

I don’t think too many minds were changed, myself.”

I don’t either. However I would expect the usual suspect polls to show the media narrative that Hillary won the debate.

Online polls are worthless. There are so many ways in which they are biased such as by “Freep this poll”. And anyone can vote in them as many times as they like just by using a few simple steps.

Trump bragging about the polls is really starting to annoy the media - big league.

I have seen tweet after tweet, post after post, from the insider class so pissed off (from right and left) that Trump is not allowing them to set the narrative. Love it!

We know they don’t mean much (other than enthusiasm) but it’s psychological warfare. It’s all part of Trump’s marketing.

He’s using them just like the media uses their fake polls (with D+15) to create a narrative.

Biased polls done by liberal media outlets and loony leftist colleges are just as worthless.

This is really a watershed moment and I don’t think we realize what has transpired during the Trump candidacy. Trump has taken the definition of winning and losing AWAY from the mainstream media. They don’t control opinion anymore. Past Republican candidates would live and die by what the establishment said. Trump says “screw you” you’re not on my side anyways and why the heck should I believe your opinions?”. It’s driving them insane. Trump refuses to let them tell him that he’s a loser. The people that support him see this and are with him. This is nothing less then a bloodless (mostly) coup in progress.

can't make this stuff up...

Nevertheless, some of these legitimate polls still come with some caveats.

The Morning Consult poll, for instance, included voters who did not watch the debate.

It wasn’t a scientific election. The scientific election run by the network shows that Hillary won overwhelmingly.

“Well no doubt if they have their pants in a knot about polls imagine how they’ll all be when Trump wins the election!!!!”

I just hope their office windows can be opened and they are high enough of the ground to insure that their leaps will be “permanent!”

The CBC - our state broadcaster here in Canada. I take anything they say with a huge grain of salt. They hate conservatives and hate Americans even more so.

Yes, I understand there is a methodology applied to pollsters, but they all still are using tiny samples with huge margins of error.

Any poll that doesn’t comport with my utterly skewed assumptions is thereby not a ‘legitimate’ poll.

Call the waaaambulance.

Shows how a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Polling is not legitimate or non-legitimate. They have various levels of validity. An internet poll can provide some information about public choice, but it’s more open to threats to its validity than a poll based on a random representative sample. But many of the so-called “scientific” polls suffer from threats to validity. For example, if a poll weights its sample incorrectly - or with biased intent - it might be less valid than an Internet poll.

The so-called non-scientific on-line polls may not calibrate their results according to some estimated voter turnout standard, but they are a good measure of immediate enthusiasm and of those who will take the initiative to show support for their candidate - they may represent a better estimate of the vote in November than the “scientific” polls....

Which is good for Trump, Hillary had to stop his momentum, which she didn’t.

All those online polls showing Trump won with a big margin now really bothering the big media. It’s driving them nuts. They have spent whole day trying to reassure themselves.
