Do have a source where they can be locked up indefinitely? Wiki is a little vague but it does mention that they can only be locked up for 1 year. Another part looks interesting though, but also vague. It says congress can refer matter to a U.S. Attorney whereby he convenes a grand jury, thereby bypassing the Justice Department, if I interpret it correctly.

"Following a contempt citation, the presiding officer of the chamber is instructed to refer the matter to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia;[10] according to the law it is the "duty" of the U.S. Attorney to refer the matter to a grand jury for action."

Ray has better knowledge of what the status and outline of that law is. And I found out when he first corrected me. And fopr that I am grateful. Thanks Ray.
Apparently the Senate has power that the House does not...

He had 4 examples. And had some apparent reference to a Supreme court ruling on this matter...
I have pinged ray... who apparently keeps references, dates and such in his file of important facts!
