I think the 'Lester Holt is a Republican' narrative was a lie put out by Team Hillary ahead of the debate in order to quell suspicions of the media teaming up with her.

The narrative 'Trump will crush Hillary' and 'Trump will probably win' was also a media narrative in order to raise expectations for Trump and set a low bar for Hillary making it easier for her to 'win' the debate.
