“They can also sue us for his unsanctioned drone wars.”

Actually your histrionics aside, they cannot. No US Government DOD action is covered in this legislation. If the US government supports a US State dept listed terrorist group, then possibly. All that would need to happen is for an ISIS plaintiff to walk into a US courthouse.
Get a grip.

I did and laughed. Africa to sue us under this legislation would need to prove the US government, distributed AIDS by way of a terror group listed under the State Dept terrorist list.

Despite your drama, there is simply -nothing- in that law that allows anyone, anywhere, to sue any government, for any imagined offense. You need to educate youself, or take a ‘lude.

Maybe you can answer this for me? Why these doomsday predictions, threats to our military, financial cataclysms, and most of all, why is this called “unprecedented”? Didn’t the Lockerbie families do essentially the same thing against Libya, for same reason, sponsoring terrorism, and with the cooperation of US govt?

IF Reid were still Majority leader, veto vote would have never made it to the floor, that’s how most of the early Obama crap got done, Reid ran interference for him in the senate.

My point was that ANYBODY could throw out ANY leftist grievance and be heard. The international court that WE agree to would make the decision.

This bill CREATES the precedent.

Why can’t you see that?

How in the hell do you think that we can get away with it, but that nobody else will?

You are simply wrong and uninformed.

““(b) Responsibility of foreign states.—A foreign state shall not be immune from the jurisdiction of the courts of the United States in any case in which money damages are sought against a foreign state for physical injury to person or property or death OCCURRING IN the United States and caused by”

https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/senate-bill/2040/text

And the law does not allow ANY foreign entity standing here. And no international court is involved. If an American, in America is killed by a terrorist attack, you can sue the nation state that sponsors them and seize what they possess.

Also specifically excluded are any acts of war.

I hear what you are saying. What about the argument that they will pull out their investments? Is that good or bad? Is that just a close out sale for US investors, or is there a downside to that?

“Why these doomsday predictions, threats to our military, financial cataclysms, and most of all, why is this called “unprecedented”?”

Because the Saudis paid for Obama to go to Harvard. Because many Bushies have become highly paid consultants and lobbyists for the Saudis. Because Bill Clinton gets paid 500,000 for a speech in Dubai. Because Grover Norquist is paid for. The establishment is freaking out and protecting their money.

Mark Twain covered this in “Corn Pone Opinions”.. Show me where a man gets his corn pone, and ill show you where he gets his opinions.
Simple as that.

Meanwhile, they are going to give the internet away to these same terrorist states. The Rats and the GOP are voting for this so they can slip the ICANN deal through while they discuss this veto override.

They are already hurting financially. Riding the tiger. They are an enemy, but they are wrapped up in us and cannot extract without destruction.

And that destruction could be literal. They hit us hard, and they could be on their own. Think the Russians want to help the Saudis? No way, they want them to implode.
They are screwed and they know it, that is why they fought the battle HERE. They own so much real estate in the USA that can be seized its ridiculous.
And between us and the Russians, their oil isn’t the powerhouse it once was. We can drill the living hell out of this.
Under Trump the pipeline from Canada will move forward into high gear.

Low oil prices will choke the Saudis. That was an idle threat. Very close to “we wont pay for that wall!!!”.
Actually, yes you will.

Yes, indeed everything you say is correct. Saudis are sacrosanct, I discovered that personally in the 1980’s. But if so, would not this special status of the Saudis cause Congress to defeat, or quietly sideline, this bill? Not approve it in dramatic fashion? Most of Congress is, after all, part of the “establishment” you describe. The new law is less astonishing than the fact that it survived a veto and we don’t really know why?

Yes. And the individuals in Syria who happened to be standing the wrong place when a drone ripped through a restaurant in an effort to kill a terrorist have NO right to sue us for billions...

The Africans who live on the coast have thousands of ‘scientists’ who are being paid a LOT of money to say that our carbon emissions are harming individuals.

Freakin’ lawyers can twist anything to their advantage.

This opens up class action lawsuits world-wide.

“If an American, in America is killed by a terrorist attack, you can sue the nation state that sponsors them and seize what they possess.”

So why wouldn’t a group of widows who’s innocent husbands were killed by a drone ‘oops’ (there have been a few) not have the right to our property that’s on their land? Perhaps the value of an embassy and the land that it stands on?

Some of the biggest lawsuit settlements in the world are class-action. This would be a class-action lawsuit.

God this feels reallllly familiar. I was pretty drunk last weekend, did I marry you or something?

You are unreasonable and impervious to all known rational tools. I literally provided you with the text of the law. The text of the law is crystal clear. It only gives standing to US citizens, attacked by a TERRORIST group, ON US SOIL, in a US Court.

Enjoy your day honey, i’ll try to get home for dinner on time.

Yes. And no other nation will be able to do what we do.

NOBODY will have standing to sue us for arming ISIS.

You’re right.
