Trump had not been my first choice, but I am not finding it hard to look on the bright side of his candidacy. Without Trump atthe top, Pence would have been attacked at a crazed hick right-wing crazy. Some tried. It didn't catch. That's because Trump has expanded the conversation.

I hesitate to vote for RINOs on the lesser-of-two evils principle. That's why I voted Concerned Citizens Party in '96 over Dole in the general election. I have always allowed for the vampire exception. It is why I voted for Joe Lieberman to get rid of Lowell Weicker (vampire).

Reagan prioritized his tasks when he went in. The tax cuts and military recovery came first. Slowing the growth of government came on an ad hoc basis, with some of it coming from cutting the taxes that feed the beast. He never had the chance (or the House) to dump Dept. of Ed. and Dept. of Energy. Unfortunately, Messrs. Clinton/Bush/Obama managed to massively expand both for their own ends. That doesn't make Reagan a bad president, even though his work was woefully unfinished. Trump is formulating a new coalition, and a lot of the weasels who said the words but didn't really know the tune are getting kicked to the curb (Romney!) where they belong. Trump doesn't really know the social conservative hymnal, but he is having Conway and Pence step in for harmony so he can fake it. I can live with that.
