I’m gonna run a putt 6 feet past the hole tomorrow, and make it coming back, in honor of Arnie.

RIP.

I got to see him at the ‘77 U.S. Open at Southern Hills C.C. in Tulsa. Hubert Green won that tournament.

So very active throughout his last decades. No doubt he lived the way he golfed:

"And Palmer is CHARGING through the backside . . . ."

My Brethren, the roll of the workmen has been called, and one Master Mason has not answered to his name. He has laid down the working tools of the Craft and with them he has left that mortal part for which he no longer has use. His labors here below have taught him to divest his heart and conscience of the vices and superfluities of life, thereby fitting his mind as a living stone for that spiritual building — that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Strengthened in his labors here by faith in God, and confident of expectation of immortality, he has sought admission to the Celestial Lodge above.

My dear beloved just went to bed; he’ll be heartbroken to hear this news. Think I’ll wait and let him find out in the morning.

Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest golfers ever to pick up a club and the object of a massive fan base that called itself “Arnie’s Army” as he recorded seven major victories, died Sunday at 87, according to the United States Golf Association.

Born in Latrobe, Pa., Palmer’s endearing personality and skill on the links earned him the nickname “The King,” during a career whose beginning coincided with the birth of television sports.

Palmer’s long string of victories on the PGA tour began in 1955, and he became one of the sport’s most recognizable personalities, along with Jack Nicklaus. Palmer’s charismatic personality also made him a sought after pitchman, for several products, perhaps most famously Quaker State motor oil.

Palmer won the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, and in 1974 was one of the 13 original inductees into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Palmer learned to play from his father, Milfred “Deacon” Palmer, who the club pro and greenskeeper at Latrobe Country Club.

He was born in Latrobe, PA, and always called it home. He and Rolling Rock beer were the two “famous sons” of that town. Now, both are gone.

Great joke, but please excuse my irreverence:

Moses and Jesus were playing golf...They were on a 180 yd par three across water...

Jesus is up and has a 7 iron...Moses says, “Don’t you think you need a 5 iron?”

The Lord replies. “I saw Arnold Palmer hit a 7 here right in the center of the green...If he can, so can I..”

He proceeds to hit the ball in the water...

Moses parts the waters and retrieves the ball...

Jesus tees up again...Moses again asks if he shouldn’t hit the 5...Jesus gives the same reply and immediately hits in the water again...

This time Jesus walks across the water to retrieve his ball as the foursome behind is walking up...One of them says, “Who does he think he is??? Jesus???

Moses sighs, “No, He knows he’s Jesus...He thinks he’s Arnold Palmer!!!”

Enjoy many rounds of golf in the heavens, Arnold...RIP

Kind of ironic he died on the last day of the 2015-16 season.

He’ll be missed for the ceremonial opening drive of The Masters.

Sad day.

So sad. This end of the circle of life stinks.

Got to talk to him at a Seniors Tour years ago. He was a sweetheart.
