About 30% of the population in the Burlington, WA area is Hispanic. What if the authorities had stopped one of those men who looked a bit like Cetin and that man had been shot? A deliberate, PC misidentification like this can easily get an innocent man killed, an innocent Hispanic in this case.

Valid concern. On the other hand, misdirection might make the perp less wary. If he thought they were looking for a Hispanic, he might have been less careful. Although, that might be giving the police too much credit.
