WASHINGTON Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson warned Sunday that Americans should be particularly careful shopping at malls this weekend following a specific terrorist threat.
Terrorist group al-Shabaab released a video calling for attacks on shopping malls in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom, which included mention and images of the Mall of America in Minnesota.
I would say that if anyone is planning to go to the Mall of America today, theyve got to be particularly careful, Johnson said on CNNs State of the Union.
The al Qaeda-linked group was responsible for the deadly Nairobi, Kenya, mall attack in 2013. The Mall of America has responded by beefing up security.
Johnson said federal authorities are taking the threat seriously and asked Americans to be more vigilant. If they see something suspicious, Johnson said, they should say something.
The threat, much like the social media calls from ISIS, represents the new phase in the war on terror in which foreign terrorists call for domestic sympathizers to carry out attacks in their homelands. Were beyond the phase now where these groups would send foreign operatives into countries after being trained someplace, Johnson said.

Red herring like work place violent and many of the other we can not blame Muslims excuses they come up with.
Maybe they all stayed home, for fear of getting blown to kingdom come, by Islamic terrorists.
Sorry. I meant to write 2 am - when I heard the perp was a Turk who is Muslim.
And of course, there’s no mention of this in the local newspapers in Minnesota, home of the Mall of America. Wouldn’t want to offend anyone.
Is this what happened in Washington state or was it a garden variety muslim attack?
Well, gotta have those 5 color alert levels.
Seems to me 3 would have been enough. Since 9/11 it was always high-risk (yellow) or islamic war happening (red).
We ain’t never gonna see green again. I remember when I cold go through security and walk on a plane in 5-10 minutes when business traveling.
Now, check that grandma’s shoe. Because we have to be politically-correct.
Chuck Norris: Invasion U.S.A. - showed what they could do.
Glad he was there.
Yes, Bush set the initial run by playing the P.C. game.
I’ve often thought this - they own or work at all of the gas stations up here as well. Can you imagine what it would do to the economy if they all were on board with a central plan to blow up the gas pumps across the country?
// Definitely we should be careful. Traitors like Jorge Busho and ODummy bring in the enemies of America and their advice is for us to be careful. Perfect. Just perfect. //
Yep. That’s immediate thought we all have to this “oh, yeah, ya might wanna look out for the rattlesnakes” when the globalists in both parties are bringing more in, and stifling any dissent as racist.

One would think that after 911, America would enact a policy that any foreign power or organization or individuals who make such threats would receive visits from drones, special forces, and B-52s. But Bush was not merely a useless pussy, he was on their side.
I thought they did away with the color alerts.
They did. But the 5 levels was a stupid idea.
Might make sense in some other application but not here. The was either some risk or super-high risk. Trying to slice each of those into 2 more pieces plus have the green just didn’t work.
Especially with the P.C. inviting several Trojan Horses in.
Remembering back as teens the mall was our hangouts, the place to be.
2015 article?
It’s O.K., “Mall of America bans guns on these premisis”.
I’m sure it’s safe to go there.
Notice there have not been any alerts to the public. They welcome these attacks it brings us closer together with our protectors
chicken or egg?
