It says a lot about Trump’s character that the NYT, desperate to find “dirt” on him, is resorting to trying to access confidential records. It is a strong indication that they can find nothing on him in the public record.
This is one more reason I supported Trump from the first: his life has been public for decades, meaning that the ability of the press to find skeletons in his closet has been effectively neutered. We will not have a replay of the Bush/Gore campaign, when Gore operatives searched through legal records until they finally found one where Bush had been cited for DUI—and released it to the public the week before the election.
The slimes would do that to any Republican presidential, Nominee, not just Trump. Believe it.
The incident was so far in the past that apparently someone going to the court house without knowing about it probably would have come up empty. The theory that was advanced is that the DUI was in the FBI file on George H. W. Bush (since that would include information on family members) and that that file had been one of those Hillary borrowed when they first went to the White House. That tidbit could then have been passed on to the operative who went to the court house and was able to find the file on the case (from 1976, I think)...which they then sat on until the Thursday before the election so that it would have maximum impact.
