Rutgers law professors say pets are 'animal slaves,' argue domestication is form of torture
The Washington Times ^ | September 22, 2016 | Jessica Chasmar

Posted on 09/24/2016 7:51:38 AM PDT by kevcol

They wrote that in a fair and just world, “there would be no pets at all, no fields full of sheep, and no barns full of pigs, cows and egg-laying hens. There would be no aquaria and no zoos.”

“If animals matter morally, we must recalibrate all aspects of our relationship with them. The issue we must confront is not whether our exploitation of them is ‘humane’ — with all of the concomitant tinkering with the practices of animal-use industries — but rather whether we can justify using them at all,” they concluded.

How would their world, or ours, be improved by letting them run wild?

A couple weeks ago, one of our male cats decided 3 abandoned kitties didn't need to run wild so brought them to live at this horrible house of torture.

If we set dogs ‘free’ they would die... This is a guy who has chosen to express his hatred of traditional Americans in a way that will also get him lots of attention.

I stopped eating animals because you told me to

 photo Obama dog meat 01_zpscavl29lu.jpg

"The Daily Caller noted that in President Obama's best-selling memoir, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, the president recalls being fed dog meat as a young boy in Indonesia with his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro.

"With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)," the president wrote. "Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths.

He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.""

< The inane protestation of this professor are just some manifestation of 2-year old behavior, “Look at me, watch me!”

Isn't it though? When I see these so called "smart guys" say stupid things like this I hate it because there are a bunch of dimwits out there without a lick of common sense who will back him because he went to school for several years and got his head filled with mush.

There is a nefarious part if what he says. He's putting animals and man on the same level which anyone with a brain knows is untrue. It's also a tenet of Satanism that Man is nothing more than another animal. Sometimes it makes you wonder who's handing the course curicullum to the professor and why.

Yes, and he is ignorant of how humans and domesticated animals, especially dogs and cats, have evolved together for our mutual benefit.

All jokes aside—
This mentality is parallel to, and the precursor of, an acceptance of bestiality. It’s one more example of Bible trashing.

They’re coming out of the closet to declare that the Biblical truth of human dominion over the creatures is tantamount to slavery. It is Biblically based “oppression” that must be abolished; if you believe that dominion stuff, you’re on the wrong side of history.

Animals must be elevated and humans brought down. The result will be “justice” and “equality.”

If we’re all equal, then their logic naturally follows that inter-species sex is ok, as long as it’s “consensual” and nobody gets hurt. Same as pedophilia.
Animals really want sex with people. Animals, in fact, often initiate it (just like children do.)
So say the underground publications of these freaks.

Seriously. That’s where this is going.
Nothing funny about it.

The natural environment is being destroyed by governments fighting wars. Millions of animals are dieng and this clown could care less. We keep pets to keep the animals safe from the government sociopaths.

My animals including the ducks and chickens would tell him where to go. They all know who has food and water for them as well as comfort and comradery. I think the reason fools like him want animals to live “naturally” starving, fighting and diseased is because they are jealous of the attention animals receive. And come to think of it, they must be jealous of other humans too as they would have us all live that way also, starving, fighting and diseased.

Just curious, since I have no convictions about circuses or, in the larger sense, animal entertainers, one way or the other——

But if we humans have dominion over the animals, why can’t we train them to entertain us?

Actor animals seem to enjoy it. They respond positively to the perceived approval of their trainers, with whom the have a mutually rewarding bond, somewhat like children do.

Sincere question.

According to these idiots my little rescue dog would be much happier in her prior life as a manged up, flea infested pup living feral in a hole in the ground instead of clean, warm and dry with anything and everything she wants or needs.

The intelligentsia of this country has found being controversial is more profitable than being smart.

These people are IDIOTs, and in truth are condoning animal abuse.
My dogs threw me out of bed at 5:30 this morning and told me to get to work, Penny is currently occupying my bed at a 45 degree angle, Sophie is sleeping on the couch, and Billy is chewing on the beef bone he made me FETCH him first thing this morning.
The only reason my dogs keep me around is that I have an opposable thumb; they keep me around to open the doors, drive the truck for their rides, and cook their food.
As for being helpless without me; they killed a 5 point buck in the orchard last year, ate what they wanted and left me to clean up the mess they left, then had the gall to complain that I didn’t cook it and season it to their taste.
I know who the slave in this household is, and he has two legs, not four.

My little Yorkiepoo lives like a princess. She sleeps on my bed which has a fluffy blanket folded 4 times next to me. She sleeps on it and nearly disappears into the soft folds of the blanket. I call her the Princess and the Pea.

GOOD LORD, the Vet bills.
I spend more on my dogs (5 of them) health care in a year, than I have spent on mine in the last 20 years.

I’ve thought about this a lot and you guys are going about this all wrong. I think taking this argument seriously could be destructive for liberalism on several counts. For one, if it’s a real question, then liberals who love pets (which is virtually all of them) will have to confront the idea that they will be judged by history as slave owners have been. Might change the calculus on all of this white guilt that is floating around in various forms.

Taking the question seriously also forces the vast majority of people who will reject this claim to seriously articulate “well why not?”, which forces them to adopt a pretty nonegalitarian view of the world.

How I despise animal rightists.

The human/animal bond is one of the things that makes us compassionate as a species. Animals and man have worked for mutual benefit since the first caveman tossed bones outside his dwelling for the wild dogs. The canines then learned to guide their benefactors to game, then to alert the weapon-bearing humans of danger. Cats learned that human dwellings were places of warmth, of soft fur beds, and of tasty rodents.

These people do not care about animals. Do not be fooled by the tear-jerking commercials with which they saturate the airwaves at the holidays. Every penny people give them is a step toward their ultimate goal. Eliminating all animal use, including pet ownership.
