Cruz supporters alarmed by possible Trump endorsement
Washington Examiner ^ | September 22, 2016 | By DAVID M. DRUCKER

Ted Cruz supporters were alarmed Wednesday at suggestions that he was on the verge of endorsing Donald Trump.

They worry that the Texas senator could squander his brand as a fighter — and goodwill earned among many through his stubborn refusal to back his party's nominee — if he caves with nothing to show for it.

Cruz has held out on the grounds that Trump is insufficiently conservative, and because Trump attacked his wife and father down the stretch of their heated battle for the Republican nomination.

The senator even took the extraordinary step of declining to endorse Trump during a televised, prime time speech delivered from the stage of the New York businessman's own nominating convention.

Well stated Jim. I would have supported Ted if he won. Hell I voted for McCain and Romney.

Is America better off with Trump or Clinton?
Base your actions on that.

""Endorsing now for no reciprocation? He would just end up being a Trump Chump," Tyler said."

Well, that would be a step up for the former Golden Boy of Conservative Orthodoxy.

And certainly welcome, if inconsequential.

I voted for Both Bush's

Bob Dole

John Mc Cain and Mitt Romney

Do the Bush's remember all the things the Clinton's have accused both of them

It's too late, Ted.

You can never get back the lost month of "united Republican" momentum that you selfishly squandered in your fit of pique.

All you'll do now with an endorsement is give the MSM a reason to rehash all the primary squabbles instead of talking about Clinton's frailty going into the debates.

The best thing you can do now is just to stay away and let things play out as they are on the table you helped set.

Does Cruz really have choice. Endorse or die a political death forever. Ted get on board ASAP. We need the Canadian votes.

“Cruz gave his word he would support the GOP nominee.”

Caught Ben Gleck for a few minutes today and he said:

1) Cruz should have never promised to support the nominee;
2) Keeping his promise to support the Constitution was the more important promise anyway.

What a POS, both of them.

Special thanks to the spiteful intolerant #nevertrump TDS FReaks (formerly?) HERE who convinced me to vote for Trump.

As far as Im concerned, Cruz’s endorsement was welcome when he promised it...........but since that time he’s made such a complete A*s of himself........
he can keep his endorsement (and so can Jeb and Romney and LindsayGraham and that idjiot jerk*off governor of Ohio whatshisname)

these guys should have started helping the party’s choice of nominee the very day he was selected

now, they can GTH as far as I am concerned. just my POV.
As far as I go, their behaviour has rendered them an embarassment to the party and they should have the decency to resign and get out of politics so that...hopefully...the country can forget them ASAP

Further fueling speculation, the Trump campaign on Wednesday issued a statement in support of Cruz’s major push to block President Obama from relinquishing U.S. control of the Internet in favor of an international consortium.

The statement from a Trump policy adviser didn’t mention Cruz specifically. But Internet policy isn’t something that Trump has discussed on the campaign trail, making it pretty clear that the press release was offered in support of the senator.

I am contacting Cruz office to thank Cruz for the tweet of appreciation he issued this morning to Trump for bringing attention to the issue, etc.

Contrary to some of the comments in the article, I think it would do wonders for Cruz brand if he did endorse Trump...

Trump’s position on the issues has been spot on!!!

VOTE TRUMP 2016

Never Trumpers failed. Cruz needs to endorse, bend the knee and sincerely apologize for his shameful display at Trump’s convention. He and his ilk, have been giving aid and comfort to the enemy for too long.

Isn’t it past the point where his endorsement doesn’t really matter? His lack of endorsement at the beginning was when the damage was done and chaos was created.

At this point he would only endorse just to be able to say he endorsed.

Are people really out there saying, “OK, I’ll vote for Trump because Ted Cruz said I can now”?

“Does Cruz really have choice. Endorse or die a political death forever.”

Ben Gleck also said Cruz SUPPORTING Trump would ensure his political death.

Cruz had better cowboy up and honor his pledge to support the nominee-that is unless he is ready to open a law office in Houston and work for a living. I don’t know anyone around here who is not so disgusted with him now that they are planning to vote for whoever is his primary challenger in 2018-I’m sorry I sent what few bucks I could spare to his campaign early on-I didn’t even get a thank you-just a form letter asking for another donation-wish I had it back now to send to Trump...
