Poll: 44% Likely to Turn Off NFL If National Anthem Protests Continue
Breitbart ^ | 9/22/16 | Daniel J. Flynn

A Yahoo survey says that 44 percent of Americans report a likelihood of shutting off NFL games should players continue to kneel for the national anthem.

The poll result follows Nielsen ratings showing that many fans already do something else beside watching football this season. Monday Night Football endured its lowest ratings earlier this week since moving to ESPN a decade ago and Sunday games also suffer year-to-year losses, albeit smaller than the double-digit decline witnessed at the Worldwide Leader in Sports. The absence of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning may help explain viewership losses. But another quarterback also not taking a single snap this young regular season undoubtedly suppresses ratings as well.

Almost a third of respondents expressed support for Colin Kaepernick’s protests of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Nearly half opposed his demonstrations. About a fifth of respondents didn’t know or didn’t care about the protests.

The backup quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers began his pregame demonstrations during the preseason. He cited police brutality and racism as reasons for sitting and kneeling for the national anthem. He followed up his initial sit-down strike against the song by donning a Fidel Castro t-shirt at a press event, wearing socks at practice depicting policemen as pigs, and telling reporters that cosmetologists receive more thorough training than cops.

Roughly three in five fans told Yahoo that Kaepernick chose the wrong manner to protest.

Started as soon as I realized the league or team would do nothing. I am surprised at how many people think it’s ok to have their values or family members insulted.

If Kaepernick doesn’t like America, then why is he playing American football, instead of soccer?

My Sundays are now free! I’ll catch up watching the highlights on my local news network (ESPN also lost me).

The NFL was a great escape from political activism...that we have to live with every other day of the week.

I used to watch the NFL to escape the leftist crap...now they’ve effectively infected “the league”. Spoiled millionaires and leftist memes...too much for me.

They lost me for the year with their first Kaperdick bench sit.

Yup, my goal is to not watch a down this year. So far so good!

Every play is literally a series of car wrecks, resulting in penalty flags & injuries throughout every game. Overpaid, steroid-pumped knotheads. Not worth watching.

Done — well, I was done years ago. I swore off professional sports in the 90’s when the baseball players went on strike at the same time my buddies were getting laid off left and right from our company. Overpaid spoiled men playing children’s sports.

Jason Whitlock is one of the most interesting, engaging talking heads in sports media. I often disagree with him, but I consider him one of the most informative, and informed, people in media today.

Wish I hadn't quit thugball 32 years ago so I could join the current 44%

Must be interesting if it could be established how many NFL viewers quit watching in the last 30 years, allowing for net population increase.

Alberta's Child meme for the day:

"See, Kaepernick didn't accomplish a damn thing by sitting his ass down during the national anthem."

I think it won't happen in the NBA, for two reasons:

1. The NBA has a specific rule requiring players to stand during the National Anthem.
2. NBA players are very image-conscious. I think the likes of LeBron James--who has spent a large fraction of the money he's earned as a player and from very large endorsement contracts to help the downtrodden in the Akron and Cleveland areas--may not want to be associated with taking an excessively polarizing stand--he has too much to lose financially and PR-wise.

Many of these players are idiots, which is why I barely watch anymore, but seriously...who cares? This is a major distraction. There are plenty of people who stand for the national anthem who hate the Constitution, liberty, freedom, Christianity etc.

The factories which produce this kind of behavior, and other far more serious pathologies, aka the government school system aka socialist indoctrination centers continue doing what they do. How many parents will consider removing their child(ren) from that system in favor of homeschooling or private schooling, at the expense of the big house, 3rd car etc, in response to these events?

Can the NFL sue Kapaernick for destroying their image & business losses???? Just asking........

I don't see how, if the owners and management failed to stop him or cancelled the "one-drop" nutjob's contract.

Sign me up if “gutless goodell” can’t reinforce patriotism in the NFL!
