More and more,, Hungary is looking a country for a vacation and scope out for a longer visit, if necessary.
It is an EXCELLENT vacation. You can roam the entire country and feel safe. I have never once felt threatened, even in the worst areas of Budapest.
The people are warm and hospitable to Americans (they are distrusting of Russians, Germans and Austrians but will gladly take their money).
Budapest and Lake Balaton are excellent destinations.
