They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Ya get lots of bells & whistles but durability and reliability? Not so much.
Maybe too much high tech with no clear mission.
The Russians build arguably less reliable warships, but they have a very clear purpose; Naval combat. Littoral Combat ship? Not so much, such that we have to up its weapons, but even then we are being left behind.
