There is a new phrase to add to the good guys with guns vocabulary right along with the phrase "I was in fear of my life and only had 6 rounds available" when questioned why you felt you had to shoot the perp six times even though he appeared to be fatally wounded after the second or third shot.

None at all. Eons ago, I saw one in Jeff Cooper's G&A page where the bad guy (some sort of major league doper) took 18 rounds of .357 Mag in the chest before deciding he didn't want to fight any more. DOA at the hospital, IIRC.
As for wanting a bigger caliber ... when the bad guy got up the second time, I think I'd be wanting a .600 Nitro Express ...
I think he was actually trying to shoot the gun out of the suspect's hand........
