Oil-rich Venezuela is turning into North Korea. You have to give Socialism credit as an economic system. No matter how rich the country is, Socialism will turn it into a basket case where people are starving to death within a decade or two.

I don’t wish this on the children of any nation, but why this concerted effort to focus on this in the news? I guess the Left has to have some favorite project to drag public attention way from their albatross.

“Those watching from around the world, particularly in the United States, seem hesitant to put a label on Venezuela’s struggle. But for me and mine, it’s clear what precipitated this crisis – and we don’t share the hesitance to point it out. While extenuating circumstances like drought and oil prices have certainly worsened the situation, it’s clear there’s a larger force behind Venezuela’s woes. The force that is driving Venezuela into the ground is socialism.”

Besides oil, Venezuela has plenty of excellent agricultural land, vast well watered plains, that used to raise huge numbers of cattle. However it’s been several decades since the country became a great food importer. They live mainly on imported food now.

.......the ultimate irony is that one article below this FR posting is another posting about Venezuela Babies.

Steinhem is yammering about her lifelong effort to kill as many babies as she can while in Venezuela they are starving to death.

I don’t know that the “people” world deserves much these days.

It’s almost as IF a compromise of killing only Democrat babies might be a interim step in the right direction.

Where’s Sean Penn and Danny Glover and all those other socialist sacks of crap? They’re the ones who should give ALL their money to help these poor children, since they are partly responsible, by supporting the leftist scum that ruined Venezuela, for this human tragedy!

Slow motion genocide. Like El Presidente said, he can make his citizens turn “hard” without “Viagra”.

This situation is appalling - where is the UN? (useless nothings). Where is the lazy Bill Clinton and his charitable foundation? There is so much edible food thrown out by US grocery chains, surely it could be shipped safely and distributed to these little children by the Red Cross.

So many international ‘charities’ and no solutions - Jesus is weeping while we wring our hands in despair.

I wonder are we reaching the point of a horrible famine of the type caused by misguided economic policy? We need to look at the horrible famine that killed somewhere between 36 to 45 million people during China's ill-advised Great Leap Forward as comparison.

Meanwhile, “poor” people in the US are morbidly obese.
