Court records show that the complaint was dismissed with prejudice in 2012, meaning that it could not be brought again.

It is not clear if there was a settlement.

Apparently, the UK reporter doesn't understand the US legal system.

"Dismissed with prejudice" means that the judge told them to get the hell out of his/her court, and don't come back again. It's reserved for people that abuse the legal system to harass others.

There was no "settlement", except perhaps to award legal costs to the defendant(s).

You Americans have a good principle of law there unlike us here in Canada. The official word here from judges is that plaintiffs are entitled to sue as much as they want - I shit you not. Legislators have tried to work with the courts to stop serial litigants and only get resistance from the judiciary (IMO because most judges were once lawyers)
