The Central Park event while tragic for the injured student, was unlikely to have been terrorism. The explosive, chemicals in a plastic bag, had been placed in a spot which hardly ever sees foot traffic.NYPD theorized that someone, likely a HS student taking basic chem had tried to make a big bang for the 4th and discarded his effort in a place where it would harm no one, or so he thought.

I really disagree with that completely. A high school student? Originally the NYPD stated that the IED was put together by someone who had a knowledge of chemistry. If the bomber didn’t intend to cause harm, he wouldn’t have left it in a very crowded park with thousands of daily visitors. I don’t buy the latest theory.
