RNC Chairman: Party could penalize former GOP candidates who don’t endorse Donald Trump
CBS News ^ | September 18, 2016, 12:05 PM | EMILY SCHULTHEIS

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday that it’s high time for Donald Trump’s former primary challengers to come on board and support his campaign—and suggested there could be trouble for them in 2020 or 2024 if they don’t.

“Those people need to get on board,” he told CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “And if they’re thinking they’re going to run again someday, I think that we’re going to evaluate the process – of the nomination process and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them.”

Several of Trump’s former Republican primary opponents, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush have not endorsed Trump in the months since the GOP businessman secured the nomination. Asked explicitly whether that meant there would be penalties for the handful of 2016 Republican hopefuls who have not endorsed Trump if they opted to run again in 2020 or 2024, Priebus said nothing has been decided but that it’s something the party will “look at.”

All of the major Republican candidates, including Trump, signed a so-called “loyalty pledge” last summer stating that they would support the eventual Republican nominee “regardless of who it is.” The document wasn’t legally binding, but candidates were asked to sign it last summer after Trump at the time wouldn’t rule out a third-party bid if he lost the nomination.

It shows who they are-typical politicians who promise, pledge and then ignore what they say. That's exactly why the non-politician beat every single one of these weasels.

THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL:

"Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin"....RNC chairman Prince Rebus is seeing this Biblical handwriting on his office wall, and upon looking up the translation, decides he better get his arse on the Trump Express barreling down the tracks.....and grab a seat right next to the Engineer.

Otherwise, he'll be stuck at the Clinton St. station......and he can kiss his high-ranking GOP job good-bye next time around.

The Trump Train has rolled over them. They have committed political suicide by failing to keep their word, signing the oath to support the nominee and then failing to do it. They better have another career in mind.

"Carly wants Reince job...will she get it?"

Carly is useless...she brings absolutely no power, no following and no importance to the GOP. She couldn't get a job emptying the wastebaskets at the RNC headquarters.

She finally endorsed Trump a couple of weeks ago after swearing she "wouldn't ever lift a finger for him".

She's now slumped in the caboose of the Trump Express barreling to victory...and there she will remain, too late to move on up to the Engine Room.

As it is said.... "to the immediate Trump supporters go the spoils of politics"...as they should.

Didn’t they all insist that there be a pledge because they were afraid that when Trump didn’t get the nomination he’d bolt? hahahaha Little oops there.

There is a principled way to be in a party and oppose your candidate. Zell Miller, last great Democrat Governor Georgia supported George Bush in 2004 over John F***ing Kerry. Before he announced his support he announced he would not run for Senator again in 2004. He gave up his seat, which he would have retained easily, to support a Repubkican candidate for President. Actually he was a former marine who could stand the idea of Kerry being President.

There are honorable ways of supporting an opponent party’s candidate.

IIRC, Priebus mentioned this two or three weeks ago, too. Apparently the feckless primary losers didn’t pay attention then, as they won’t pay attention now.

We could literally be annexed by Mexico, and these fools would still be bleating about the Constitution and “our” values.

I am really happy with what Preibus has done regarding this election. He is one of the few in the GOP that treated Trump fairly.

Ted old boy, glad you enjoyed that ride on Obama's Air Force One...

Priebus is alerting you to a sign up ahead regarding your career in the GOP. You might want to heed it, amigo.
