NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s renouncement of birtherism came with some media gamesmanship that compelled television news networks to air 20 minutes of endorsements by retired military men before the candidate briefly got to the point.
“We all got Rick-rolled,” said CNN’s Jake Tapper, a reference to the Internet prank of replacing an expected link with a video of singer Rick Astley’s 1987 hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
The bad blood continued after the Friday morning event when the Trump campaign barred text reporters and a television producer from joining him on a tour of the new Trump International Hotel in Washington. In response, cable and broadcast networks refused to use any video of the tour.

If any of these Never Trumpers and fence sitters would get a clue, they would understand how Trump has truly mastered the “Art of the Deal” and would deal with world leaders in the same way. The event at the hotel was scheduled in advance of the press spasm over Trump’s preference to set the birther issue aside. There was no “bait and switch.” The claim there was a bait and switch is another media lie.

The Democrat American Media are serial rapists who assault their victims with the most horrific, life-destroying slander. They destroy lives and careers with accusations of racism, homophobia, sexism, Islamophobia, and other similar insults. They consider all of us on this forum to be sub-human and deserving of their rape. Now they are angry because they are used to raping their victims and getting away with it. But Trump didn’t let them do it to him, and they are angry.
At some point in the affair, you know Trump was thinking, “Hotel publicity, check. Military endorsement, check. 0bama’s birth, check. Hook, line, and sinker.”
I saw the front pages of the WORTHLESS New York Times and the equally WORTHLESS Boston Globe last Saturday.
Both of them reported on the Trump event. But they both focused on Trump’s short statement on the “birther” issue, and his “false” claim that Hillary started the “birther” meme in 2008.
But both of them gave very short shrift to the Medal of Honor recipients and the generals and admirals who endorsed Donald Trump. Some other journos called the event a commercial for Trump’s new hotel.
IMHO, the endorsements by American military heroes was MUCH more important than the stupid “birther” meme. Moreover, the worthless journos and their vapid media organizations REFUSED to admit the brilliant way that Donald Trump had finessed them!!!!

Once upon a time (circa 1975), large numbers of university students and recent graduates wanted to be Investigative Reporters, because their journalistic heroes had brought down the “corrupt” Nixon regime.
Now NO ONE with any intelligence and moral sense wants to be a journo!!!! The vile, slimy low-life journos investigate NOTHING!!!! They merely parrot the mouthings of the Dim Party, and work to smear the Party’s enemies as “racists”, “islamophobes”, and all sorts of other “unacceptable” things.

Seems like the only real journalists that remain are at small (relatively speaking), web-based outlets like WND or Breitbart. Fortunately we still have FR with people like yourself who are more interested in truth than political correctness.
Did Trump ever actually SAY the event was going to be a “birther” event?
I never heard why the MSM believed it was going to be discussed. I’m hoping, though, that Trump had his people start a couple of whispers which were picked up by everyone. They expected something based on gossip, and they got punked. Good!!
