Disinformation on Apple. It’s no longer a problem, affected only a few. In other news, Samsung came out for a solution of their Galaxy phones exploding in flames - only recharge to 60 percent. They have altered their battery chargers to do so. That’s the Samsung method of fixing things, cripple the charge and limit the phone. Apple provides real fixes.
That’s a bit of FUD...;) For those who choose not to get their Note7 replaced (for free), they will be limited in charging. However, the new Note7 replacements will go to a full 100% charge.
And if we want to use common “excuses”, it happened to nearly no one, it was just 0.0014%, such a small number that it’s statistically irrelevant!
The problem with igniting lithium is not related to the charging process. It may be related to the charge density, which may be why limiting the charge to 60% may alleviate some fires. But, the root cause is defective battery manufacturing and/or design.
