I wonder was Kaine specifically warned and "groomed" in private to become the candidate on short notice if Hillary cannot continue. But the DNC has so much invested in Hillary that if she has to drop out, it would create a mess that could damage the Democratic Party for years--an issue that won't be solved even with younger candidates like the Joaquin or Julian Castro from Texas or Gavin Newsom from California in 2020.
