Based on that, pitching might be a white man's position, but otherwise blacks represented baseball by more than the 12% of the national average that blacks represent overall. I suspect that many black Dominicans would consider baseball, rather than basketball, football or hockey to be their sport.

First all-black nine was the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 1, 1971: Rennie Stennett, Gene Clines, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Manny Sanguillén, Dave Cash, Al Oliver, Jackie Hernández, and Dock Ellis.
