I tried the fish and chicken sandwiches they offer now and they were inedible. Like biting into an asphalt roofing shingle. Ick. Their leaders should look to the past...

but I so do miss their old Whaler fish sandwich from the 70’s... No replacement has yet been found.

Yes, the Whaler is on my time-travel bucket list. Actually, there are a number of things from the '70s on that list. :-)

Sourdough Rye is probably the best true bread from a glycemic view; however, as you said, most commercial sourdoughs are not sourdough. Heck, even most whole-grain breads aren’t whole grain—they’re white bread spiked with non-nutritive fiber and sprinkled with a few seeds and husks.

You can make your own, but it is almost like getting married. We used to make friendship bread that was a sourdough, and it was interesting to see whose starter lasted the longest. The Pacific Northwest is the best place for sourdough-it spoils pretty quickly down in the South, and there are few things that smell worse than a bad sourdough.

Orange chicken strips are bad, but their brown lettuce is the real problem.

McD’s Filet O’ Fish are a guilty pleasure for me. I get a couple of them (they DO seem to be getting smaller) about 2-3 times/year. And I can’t think of a single reason WHY I do it...

I have not set foot in Burger King since they introduced Gayburgers, wrapping their food in rainbow paper to celebrate “pride.” They clearly do not want my business.

From my days in high school (1961 graduate) when I first ate a Whopper, I’ve referred to them as “Booger King.” Never had good reason to change my view.

I only have the McD FoF sandwich during Lent when they are 2 for $4 or something like that. First one is inhaled, second one is savored.

I’d be surprised if even European style real sourdough is low enough carb to be truly low carb. I just can’t see the yeast converting that much bulk starch into acid. I would guess it’s lower carb than regular bread but only by a fractional amount.
