Cokie Roberts: Dems ‘Nervously Beginning to Whisper’ About Hillary Replacement; Floats Biden...

Monday on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” ABC political commentator Cokie Roberts offered her thoughts on the apparent health issues regarding Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the how the party could be looking to handle things if a replacement is needed for Clinton.

According to Roberts, there was already conversation within the party about such a possibility.

“The fact that it comes now when the polls are tightening and Democrats are already saying that Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump and it is taking her off of the campaign trail, canceling her trip to California – it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate.”

When asked if that really could happen, Roberts called it “unlikely to be a real thing,” but floated the name of Vice President Joe Biden as a possible replacement.

I have had pneumonia 5 times in the past 2 years including a 8 day stay in the hospital and then a 3 day stay 6 months later. I can speak from experience. It is horrible. You can's get enough oxygen into your lungs. Normally your oxygen saturation is 97 and above. With pneumonia your level drops to the low 80’s. Below that your life is in jeopardy. Without oxygen your have no stamina, you can't walk, you cough non stop trying to relieve your lungs so you can get oxygen into your lungs.
Hillary does not have pneumonia. Her doctor knows that and that letter is a press release. Doing that, yes, her license should be pulled. She is incompetent.

“No switch out is possible, as early voting has started”

The president is elected by the electoral college. The early voting that you are talking about is governed by rules that can be changed.

If Hillary decides o drop out, the DNC can nominate anyone else. The only catch is that she can’t be forced out. But with her health in bad shape and sinking in the polls why stay? A graceful exit might be her best option.

OK...this is too simple...

Hillary will drop out and the media will lap it up like a dog that hasn’t had water in a couple of days.

After Hill gives her “courageous, all-in” endorsement of Biden, Slow Joe will use it as a springboard, just like LBJ did with Kennedy’s death.

He’ll talk about doing it for Hillary...plus he’ll bring up doing it for his son as well. This fits right into the Dem playbook.

I think you left out two, maybe three reasons:

Reason 11:
If they replace PIAPS then the DNC has no claim on the money the she raised for her campaign (100 million +) That money would, as far as I could find out and I did try and research it today, fall under the rules for left over campaign contributions. That means She could
1. Donate it to Charity (The Clinton Foundation?)
2. Give up to $2000 to another political campaign
3. Save it for a future run for another office.

If they force her out do you really think that PIAPS would voluntarily turn the money over to the DNC. I belove it would go to the Clinton foundation and Chelsea would get very large year end bonus.

Slow Joe would have to start fund raising from scratch. That means he’d be sunk before he started

Reason 12:
PIAPS largest support group come from loney, immoral, unmarried Caucasian women who despite possibly having university degrees process below normal intelligence. I call this the nutty-sl*t vote. If the DNC replaces PIAPS with Slow Joe the nutty-sl*ts will all vote for Jill Stein simply because she has female genitalia or they’ll stay home. They’ll cry “Patrimony. The DNC are afraid of a woman president! Their anti-woman!” The democrats can’t win if they lose 1/2 the nutty-sl*t vote.

Reason #13
I think that there is a slight chance (15% maybe) given how vindictive, petty and mean PIAPS has shown herself to be that if she is replaced against her will she might give Donald Trump her endorsement saying she regrets how her party has been taken over by insiders with an agenda hurtful to the election process. She could take down the entire party out of spite. That would give her very unique and notable place in US History and might redeem her standing with conservatives.

Were the Bernie people EVER happy?

They are professional malcontents and may not be satisfied with anything less than total capitulation, at which point they create a whole new list of demands, all of which are “non-negotiable”.

Missing the debates is a two edged sword. She avoids making a gaffe, but if you are too sick to debate, you undermine the case for electing you President.

Unless Hillary drops dead or lapses into a Coma, she isn’t going to be replaced... NO ONE.. NO ONE in the democratic party has the nads to tell the Clinton’s no... if they did they would have done it during the primary... she was always a lousy candidate... and better options were available.

Hillary will literally need to be on here death bed, or dead before they will replace her. They are stuck with the turd they selected.

I hate to say it but I would much prefer Biden and hope that they pull the plug on the Clinton Dynasty.

I do not want an impeached President back in the White House.

the blackmail, coercion, payoffs, political favors, intimidation, lying that got her this far is incalculable.
She runs the Dem party! She’ll stay on the ticket if she is bedridden from now to November.

Oh how I would love to see the frantic arguments going on in the executive offices of the democrat/communist media/entertainment complex. The “diehards” are still trying to drag this dead dog of a candidate across the finish line, while the “quitters” are saying it’s not working.

Would be fun to watch.

I hope so. But I do think that Trump’s opponent will be Joe Bite Me.
That is bad news.

You’re right -the Bernie people will NOT be happy- but they are hard core- I am trying to convince many of them that Bernie’s heart is in the right place in wanting to ‘help’ everyone, but his HEAD is not if he thinks government can do any of that.

His spporters are the same way- ask them why they support him and they all say some sort of variation on wanting to “help” people and be “inclusive”, and trying to convince them that voting for THE GOVERNMEN to do those things is lunacy.

The only thing that seems to have good effect is telling them “Look, I know you want to ‘help’ people, but the government only helps the government”

Just ask the American Indians how much they enjoyed all their ‘help’ from the Government.

NPR is so leftist. I laugh often whenever I listen.

In a given half-hour, you will hear:

- Positive Clinton and 0bama stories.
- Negative GOP or Trump stories
- Stories about liberal special interest groups being hurt by businesses and Republican policies
- A personal story about a specific liberal niche group (lesbian midgets) and how difficult life is from being around conservatives and other bigots.

Then, the half hour restarts. It is always the same.

Why its tax-subsidized by Republicans is beyond me.

But the Dems also have to worry about another shoe dropping...

Then Canky would be completely barefoot.

If there were to be a replacement, (and unless Hillary lapses into a coma or drops dead, I don’t think you’ll see that happen) Biden would be the most likely replacement, but how do you think the Bernie folks will react to anyone but him being the replacement?

If Hillary must be replaced, it would be true a lot of the issues that weaken Hillary go away, and the fact she’s just not liked... but it also means the Democrats go right back into chaos and infighting openly with the election less than 2 months away.

DO you think the Bernie folks are going to sit quietly while they try to put someone else at the head of the ticket? I don’t think so... do you think they will unify or will you just reopen the wound and wind up with them openly protesting the candidate at their rally’s and causing trouble?

My bet would be highly on the latter.

Nope, short of Hillary being on her death bed, or lapsing into a coma, I don’t see any chance of a replacement happening.
