True, but we don't have a group of randomly liberated NORKs to use as a control, that why I said "how can we tell?" and used the escapees as a counterexample.

Most of my information comes from talking with ROK military. I think they have a pretty good bead on things.

Yes but we are allies with South Korea. The last time we had a hot war in Korea the Chinese came into Korea.
China will defend North Korea. I guess they view them as some sort of buffer between the U.S. and them?
