Actually bacterial pneumonia is worse than viral. Antibiotics are given regardless because of concern that viral pneumonia can develop into bacterial pneumonia. Having a fever with pneumonia has very little to do with contagion as illness is spread through inhalation of infected secretions. No idea what she was doing with the child other than she thought it was a good photo op. I don’t think the American people really care or need to know what antibiotics she’s being treated with. Cultures can take at least 48 hours if they were collected. Most often cultures are not obtained. Do we really care what bug or virus has infected her lung/lungs?

Well, yes. If it is some antibiotic resistant pathogen, she should be in quarantine.
