One state where [civil asset forfeiture] reform sailed through the legislature with no opposition is New Mexico, where a very fair law was signed last year by Governor Martinez. That, however, was not enough to put an end to an extraordinarily aggressive system in Albuquerque, where the politicians had gotten hooked on funds derived from forfeited cars and other property. The claim by Albuquerque officials that the law did not apply to the city led to a suit filed by two state senators, Lisa Torraco and Daniel Ivey-Soto, to compel the city to obey.
I wrote about that case last November in this piece. Instead of ordering Albuquerque officials to comply with the new civil asset forfeiture law, the judge recently decided to dismiss the case on the ground that the plaintiffs lacked “standing.” That’s legal jargon meaning that they were not entitled to bring the case because they weren’t really affected by Albuquerque’s conduct.
Okay, so the Albuqueque police are seizing people’s property without legal authority to do so. That’s armed robbery because these thieves are armed when they commit their crimes.
Seems reasonable to me that armed New Mexico citizens should resist these armed thieves with lethal force.
I think that's probably what they want. Cops have lots of federal military weapons and technology now, and so few places to really unleash their murderous fury. It must be frustrating as hell...
It must be awful to have to live in a place where the worst thieves are the police. THAT must be frustrating as hell when someone has to call the APD and wonder if the cops will come up with an excuse to steal something from a crime victim.
I used to live near a protected meth house. Cops made it clear they didn't want to hear any complaints. Scary stuff - way scarier than the meth, and disheartening as hell. Hard to remember sometimes that they're not all like that.

If that’s what they think, they had better have second thoughrs. In that “war” they will be the loosers no matter whatever advantage they may think they have by virtue of their choice of weapons.

Reasonable? Sounds like you’ve never encountered APD. And sounds like you’re a damned idiot calling for the murder of cops for what some city attorney does months later.
If they’re breaking the law when they steal property from people then they’re criminals and “following orders” is not a defense.
