Here’s this from ATF

June 2016
- Addendum
( August 31, 2016)Nitrocellulose - Update

ATF’s June 2016 Explosives Industry Newsletter included a brief discussion of Nitrocellulose, and attempted to clarify the circumstances under which wetted Nitrocellulose is considered a high explosive under 27 CFR, Part 555. As with all explosives, ATF’s focus is on the potential
public safety risks associated with materials that can be misused or diverted to unlawful
purposes.
Subsequent contact from industry members who import, transport, store or employ wetted Nitrocellulose in the production of ammunition, however, has brought to our attention issues that were not fully addressed in the Newsletter and require further consultation and consideration with the industry.
Accordingly, ATF has and will conduct further industry
outreach concerning wetted Nitrocellulose.

**** In the interim, previously authorized industry practices concerning wetted Nitrocellulose will not be affected.******

Yeah, I’m pretty much a wet blanket with my facts. I get that all the time. ;)

Don’t let me stop ya. I like a good Chicken-Little rant.

So .. basically .. the President and the ATF are putting the ammo people out of business by using a regulation; no Congressional involvement.

Disgusting ..!!!!

I don’t see big news about gun manufacturers raising cain and threatening lawsuits, and when has the government ever passed legislation that killed the gun manufacturing business?
After all there is the military to consider....

IS this being pushed as “click bait” which got out of hand?????

ATF are losers. Defund the ATF and nobody would care.

Nitro Cellulose we made as children, nobody cared, gun cotton. Get nitric acid from a gold store, add real cotton, and bingo, nobody cares.

They are a useless, duplicate agency, which is why their title is 3 disparate items. Remember Waco TX when the ATF needed funding how they crushed children under tank treads.

I don’t think so.....

One guy wrote...the atf doesn’t regulate hasmat shipments, the dot does.Second nitrocellulose is listed as a propellant and it takes over a year to change shipping requirements as they must be published first.

I am not worried about this one. Congress won’t let it stand.

And now we know why the feds bought billions upon billions of rounds for all the federal alphabet agencies.

And this is why we have all suffered such tragic boating accidents.

Great point.

BOY I hope we aren’t deluding ourselves when we think this is really going to be any kind of fair/real election.

obama isn’t a president. He’s a petty dictator. And has hired men who think like him in the military.

I hope you southern and midwest folk have a lot of ammo already.

When is this supposed to happen?

Oh, come on!

They didn't "crush children under tank treads" - they burned them alive.

Obama, pissing off gun owners 9 weeks before the election. When the ammo run hits, that’ll motivate people.

The timing is most destructive to Democrats. Everyone is sighting in new scopes and firearms for the upcoming deer season this fall. Tens of millions of voter deer hunters nation-wide. Political suicide with a dead man switch explosive attached just to be certain.

Just think about how many precious children these new regulations will save from horrible deaths at the hands of right-wing terrorists.

Obama Akbar! /s

To be perfectly accurate, this is not an ammo ban. It *may* increase costs, because ammo manufacturers must ramp up record keeping and change storage somewhat.

I also take heart that the model rocket hobbiest community, a MUCH smaller market, had something similar promptly challenged, injuntioned into non-enforcement, and removed when ATF classified model rocket propellant as an explosive. The ATF did the same shenanigans ... just reclassified without going through the proper proposal/advisory period.

If the model rocket people can reverse the ATF, and quickly, so can (and will) we.

Of course, this begs the question of the utter lawlessness exhibited by the ATF.

Naw, not clickbait. It's real. It's not quite as dire as presented by this author, but it is real.

Perhaps someone pointed out to the ATF that clause 3 of Article I, Section 9 of the United States Constitution prohibits ex post facto laws?

While this would not be considered a violation of ex post facto, since it would not effect previous transactions and transports but only ones in the future, it still seems that it won't be happening. The ATF already backed off.

From Jeff Knox, an industry heavyweight:

Jeff Knox says: August 31, 2016 at 4:32 PM

ATF has backed off of this.

https://www.atf.gov/file/109341/download

They say they are going to reevaluate and work with industry. In the meantime, the old rules continue as they were.

See my above. The ATF reversed within 48 hours. All old rules still apply.

Hold on until January. This can be undone by President Trump.
