Frankly, this makes sense. Just keep a registry of those not legally allowed to own firearms. I’m in IT. The solution with the smallest database is usually the best answer. It also protects those NOT on the list from un-necessary police scrutiny.
They are illegal in Massachusetts (of course).
There was just an article last week about a triple murder with a cross bow in Europe I think...but that is the only instance Ive ever heard of malevolent use
In before the first annoying boating accident post.
Crossbows are great for hunting. My Parker Thunderhawk is pretty much their starter model, and it has enough fps and kinetic energy to hunt any North American land animal, including moose, elk, bear. Bolt zips straight through a deer. Made in America too.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
+1
Because crossbow attacks have just gotten out of hand.
Note to self....purchase a crossbow before obozos race war...
MA - pretty soon everything not mandatory will be illegal (if that’s not already true)
I suspect that crossbows have more natural buoyancy.
This has been proposed a number of times. The left does not want it ... because... it focuses on people who have committed crimes, and does not inconvenience others.
Alan Korwin has been chamioning this concept for years, as an alternative to NICS.
The gun haters do not want it, because it does not lead to gun registration and gun confiscation.
“The gun haters do not want it, because it does not lead to gun registration and gun confiscation.”
BINGO
Also, crossbows are horribly dangerous to the user. A rifle is far safer.
One slip up on these things, and there are many places to slip up, can cost you a hand or finger instantly. And in order to decock it you have to shoot an actual bolt into a soft target. The ground destroys the bolt. It’s a really inconvenient weapon.
Carrying it in the woods is terrible, they are delicate and just like high powered bows the bolts / arrows have to be perfect. Tiny fractures that the eye can’t detect will blow up literally in your face.
Bows are pretty dangerous too but not as bad as these. A rifle is the safest, easiest to handle hunting weapon out there. I dispel so many myths with my crossbow. (Which is for sale now, BTW)
Looks like a great piece,
6 bills a little steep,
Thanks.
Crossbows were unfaniliar to me until the appalling murders by Christopher Hightower in Barrington,RI about 20 years ago.
Are felons allowed to have air rifles? There are some in the 25 caliber and above; serious hunting air rifles.
Crossbows used to be banned for hunting as they were considered a poacher’s weapon. Then George Stevens of Huntsville AR started lobbying for a hunting season and got it.
Now crossbows are considered normal archery equipment.
I remember forty years ago when a former cop murdered his x-wife in Tulsa using a crossbow.
Crossbows are infrequently used in acts of violence.
However, knives are.
Clearly they need to open the gun-ban registry to all sellers of cooking war, cutlery, and even machine tools.
