Having traveled in the Middle East several times (UAE and Qatar) I’m always stunned to see those little women wrapped in black burlap sacks following several steps behind their masters (husband,father,son,etc).I don’t know if the burlap sacks are about violence but they’re surely about domination...letting women know that they’re just some guy’s annoying accessory.

They also serve the function of hiding how ugly a Muslim guy's wife is.
