While neither of these storms are currently expected to develop beyond Tropical Storm strength, coastal communities should stay alert.

Yep... TD9 (formerly 99L) might become a tropical storm in the next day or so in the Gulf. Who knows where it will go from there.

9 is hanging a big right turn and going OTS. it will be a rain event in Florida. Same with the thing off the coast of the Carolinas.

the wave coming off africa right now will be the next thing to worry about.

While neither of these storms are currently expected to develop beyond Tropical Storm strength, the Weather Media will hysterically treat them as the second coming of Katrina.

...That's not to say we shouldn't stay alert.

NC could get a double whammy because the Gulf Coast storm (TD 9) is expected to cross the FL peninsula and emerge intact as a tropical storm in the Atlantic.

Three sure signs that summer is nearing an end:

  1. Football season is beginning
  2. Back to School Sales
  3. Hurricanes (and threats of hurricanes)

Why do summers always go by so fast?

The TS's I've been thru here to date are less threatening than the afternoon thunderstorm du jour. Which has been mostly MIA this summer.

A nice l'il extended "rain event" would prolly be a good thing about now. 'Sides, we've got a new roof on the rental and I spent last week on the tractor puttin in a new pipe and ditch. I wanna see if it works. d:^)

>>They don’t go by fast enough here in southeast Texas.<<

Good grief...that’s an understatement. Not so much the heat, it’s the warm, wet, wool blanket wrapped around ya called HUMIDITY.

Just makes it nasty hot. The older I get, the more the humidity bothers me. Yuck

"the wave coming off Africa right now will be the next thing to worry about."

Joe Bastardi puts that one off the Carolinas in 15 days. He says the one near the keys could get into the gulf later this week and strengthen. Gulf coasters should be alert.
