They have to show it sort of close or their audiences would lose interest.
If one is shown miles ahead, that could elicit sympathy for the one behind. They certainly do no want to portray Clinton as waaaaaaaaaay behind.
The polls are relatively meaningless anyway at this stage. After the debates, it will be much more significant.

Clinton sort of reminds me of Kerry 2004. Neither have much in the way of personality, pizzaz, sparkle, excitement, accomplishments. Yet, in 2004, Kerry almost pulled out an upset. Many in the media actually thought he did — until the actual results started coming in.
Personality is the least of her problems. I agree with Newt that “we haven’t even seen 10% of what we are gonna learn in September, she is going to drown under the impact.”
