US elections: Trump details plans to track illegal immigrants

Aug 28, 2016- The US Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has said he will develop a tracking system to help authorities control immigration.

Speaking on the campaign trail in Iowa, he outlined what he called an "entry-exit" programme, which would track those who overstay their visas.

He also reiterated his support for building a wall along the southern border with Mexico.

And he said he would stop illegal immigrants getting welfare benefits.

"I am going to build a great border wall, institute nationwide e-verify, stop illegal immigrants from accessing welfare and entitlements, and develop an exit-entry tracking system to ensure those who overstay their visas are quickly removed," Mr Trump said.

"If we don't enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border - it's as simple as that," he added.

Immigration was a central issue in Mr Trump's primary campaign.

Earlier this week, he signalled he would soften his immigration plans.

Instead of deporting all 11 million people living illegally in the US as he had suggested before, he said only criminals would go.

He was immediately criticised by the right of the Republican party, with Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin warning him of "massive disappointment" if he backed down on his plan to deport undocumented immigrants.

Instead of deporting all 11 million people living illegally in the US as he had suggested before, he said only criminals would go.

He did not say that. He said the known criminals would be the first to go.

He said the others have to be identified and that it would take time to identify them, but that law enforcement already knows the criminals....it's just that they aren't permitted to do anything about it.

I listened to him in the Anderson Cooper interview and that's exactly what he said.

The 'softening' applies NOT to the policies, but to the language used to describe it. They are 'softening the rhetoric'.

< None of this is rocket science. Just enforce current immigration laws, including e-Verify, and eliminate the freebies.

The money and jobs saved for Americans will be staggering by just eliminating the freebies. It will also save my heart when my blood boils when I see an obviously illegal immigrant with 3 kids and one in the oven popping out her EBT card when her very well dressed cowboy hat wearing boyfriend or husband walks up to pay the non-covered items and has a huge wad of 100 bills that he reels off to pay for them then walks out to a brand new Ford F-150 pickup and drives off. True story. Walk into any Walmart and watch for awhile and you'll see it repeated ad infinitum. Bet the Health and Human Services Department knows nothing about the boyfriend or the money he brings into the household. On top of that he doesn't pay any taxes on his wages because he's paid in cash most likely. I'd sat that's a big problem if a 1/5 of my wages are sucked away in taxes to pay for their benefits.

Precisely. You start by kicking out the known criminals. Then go after those who self-identify by accessing welfare benefits, register to vote, doing new crimes and the like. Next thing you know, millions of them are self-deporting and your job just became a whole lot easier.

Half a loafs better than no loaf ...

And it is the first logical step - stopping pathways to citizenship and blocking the welfare gravy train will also be useful in the deal.

Some folks take a few words and get all bent out of shape because they fear they won't get everything they want for Christmas.

I agree with your pragmatic view - anything that is a step in the right direction is.... a step in the right direction.

I don’t see it as “half a loaf”. Trump is focusing and setting priorities of what can be accomplished immediately.

without running afoul of the Supremes

We are not going to get out of the mess we're in until the usurped legislative power of that court is ended.

Our immigration laws were “broken”.

Sometimes you hear something that is so commonplace you don't really notice the repetition.

WHY are they "broken"? Just WHAT is "broken" about them?

Our immigration laws are not broken at all. They're perfectly legitimate laws, passed by Congress and signed by Presidents.

Enforcing them is obligatory. That's all there is.

We have been promised this for over a decade. Ain't going to happen. A master database that tracks all visa overstays is a pipe dream that has cost us taxpayers billions and all we have to show for it is another 20-30 million illegals.

Start making an example of these tresspassers, hang the bastards

The USG already tracks everyone in the US and possibly worldwide.

Exhibit A is your social security number being tied to your Car, phone(s), credit. Exhibit B would be Facebook and your computer.

A simple program to track your vehicle (knowing the owner), and tracking any electronic devices (owner phone, passenger phone), will show who is associating whether you are driving to a drug deal, or your car is stolen. Putting together the data from continuous patterns of conduct, and those registered devices or vehicles will give the government the power to track you or a thief as they see fit, and to make the case for illegal activity, etc.

All Trump has to do is roll out a National ID Card tied to your job, taxes, phone, car, credit, etc., and then track you via your device of government choice, e.g., your vehicle and phone or known criminal you come into close proximity often enough.

The best part is your car has a two-way speaker, your phone, your computer, etc., so they can hear or see everything without doing anything more than selecting/enabling Security Software options to give the information they want or all of it.

Imagine a huge NSA map with roads and vehicles and phones all denoting who is where ever, and following you. If your car is stolen they have that power to see whose phone is driving the vehicle or in the vehicle. Drones are no needed.

Deny them welfare and jobs and they go home on their own.

"Go after and litigate the employers who hire illegals"

No, imprison them.

One of the quickest ways to find all the illegals is to put agents in EVERY Western Union office or station.

They re sending their families money with CASH every week. Round them up at the site. Then TAX Western Union a massive amount of tax for facilitating these transfers out of the country. Many of the clerks at Western Union know these illegals by name....

EVERY sanctuary city needs to lose every penny of Federal funds the day after Trump is sworn into office.

Those locations are a disgrace to the entire country. The officials who voted for such need to be replaced & never allowed to run for office again.
