U.S. military deaths in Operation Enduring Freedom for 2016 show as 6. That looks like 7200% more dangerous to live in Chicago than be deployed in the military.

Your post got me wondering about something so I looked around for total deaths from U.S mass shootings.
I had to total the numbers myself so the number might be off a bit but it's close.
Anyway, according to MJ, the total number of dead from mass shootings in the U.S. from August of 1982 through the Baton Rouge police shootings of July (2016) is 611.
It's not likely, but it certainly isn't out of the question, that Chicago could surpass this number in this year alone.
