FAITH OR FEAR?

For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful]. — Romans 14:23

Is it possible to allow someone to control and manipulate us, honestly saying we are doing so in faith? Of course not! We know this type of behavior is rooted in fear, not faith. Faith obeys God, but fear is easily intimidated and finds many excuses for disobedience.

A person who is a perfectionist, a workaholic, or involved in sexual perversion is just as dependent as someone who is addicted to a chemical substance like tobacco, alcohol, or drugs. If we try to meet the needs of that person at the expense of our own needs, we are co-dependent upon that individual.

It is good to help people who have been hurt; but when their emotional needs begin to control us, we are in danger of being led by them and their problems instead of being led by the Holy Spirit of God. Faith causes us to step out and say or do what God places in our hearts, but fear causes us to timidly stay under control and domination.

How many times have we heard manipulative people say things like, "I'm old, and you don't care anything about me now," or "I raised you all of your life. I sacrificed to house and clothe you and put you through school, and now you want to just leave me here all alone"?

There is a balance to be maintained in such situations. That balance is the Holy Spirit within us to guide us into the truth of each situation. He will provide us the wisdom to know when we are to be adaptable and adjustable and when we are to take a firm stand and be immovable. Always keep in mind that faith obeys God, fear is easily moved by unbridled emotion!

It sucks BIG TIME! So much more I wanted and needed to do today but nope. Wasn’t gonna happen.

It would be nice if the weather pattern would change. Hubby’s hurting, too, and two grumps in the house is getting hard to put up with. LOL!

Be careful of your back when you water...water, rest, water, rest. You know the drill.

Sorry you didn’t get any of the rain.

Usually the signs on cars that she “sees” are police cars. The pickup has a Ford logo, but every now and then, like today, it says Battalion Chief; like the sign on the fence says “office closed”.

I’m really happy about the fixed toilet. He wasn’t sure about being able to get the rusted bolts out but he did it.

I’m fighting sleep, but she is still watching tv and has called several times. I had to put the blinds down so no one could see in in the morning. Not possible...second floor and nothing but trees and all their foliage can be seen out her window. We’ve been over the conditions a hundred times, but it’s not worth it anymore. Then she heard a man talking...who was here? No one but me. Then something banged the side of the house. Nothing. She should be asleep soon.

Flowers watered and they’ll be good for a few more days. I use the Flex hose and that’s much easier on the back than the watering can was.

It would have been nice to get some rain. The soybeans need more to plump up the beans in the pods a bit more. It’s almost time for the plants to give up and start dying. A 30% chance for it tomorrow .... er, today so maybe we’ll get lucky.

Those rusted bolts can be a booger to loosen so it’s good he was able to get yours out.

I knew about the police cars but the Battalion Chief is a new one to me.
Hope she doesn’t hear any more people or bangs tonight so you can get a good night’s sleep.

Amazing Grace
(Click)

By John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

DEAR LORD, who suffered torment, agony, and death upon the Cross to free our souls from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend our troops. Guide them in the performance of their duties. Strengthen them to endure hardship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all to a greater share in Your Mercy. Amen.
