Jerry Coleman was the only major league baseball player to fight in combat in two wars, WWII and Korea. Ted William was John Glenn’s wing man in Korea and was shot down (barely made it back to base and crash landed), but he served as an instructor pilot in the U.S. during WWII.

RIP Jerry...one of the go to clutch guys in the Yankee world series runs in the 50’s.

Ted Williams flew 39 combat missions before his plane was hit. In fact, his plane was hit on three separate occasions in combat.
