Drive over to Fredericksburg, Texas. I think they still speak German in church there.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

IRVING BERLIN

KIRI TE KANAWA: ”BLUE SKIES”

How many aboriginal New Zealand opera singers would try their hand at this classic? She took a slower approach, with Nelson Riddle at the helm. This was an exceptional 1985 recording accenting the melancholy aspects of the song.

BRENT SPINER: ”BLUE SKIES”

A great standard can’t be ruined no matter what you do to it. This clip from “Star Trek: Nemesis” gave Mr. Data a shot at the song, much to the annoyance of Mr. Worf. No doubt Worf would have preferred some Klingon opera, which sounded like a cross between Wagner and Aerosmith.

Hardly a vocal change in 50 years, a great singer and a great song!

Indeed! He always did have a set of pipes and he obviously took great care of them. He can still hit those HIGH notes.
Glad you re-posted the links. Missed them earlier today.

Hi radu!

Son's still here but after dinner he's playing video games and I'm FReeping, LOL.

Yes, Jay Black has a phenomenal vocal range, even after 50 years.

OK, son just left, he's got an early morning.

How wuz your day?

Rod tried his hand at the Great American Songbook, and he sold a lot of disks. This one was from 2005.
