For more than a year, Donald Trump took the hardest line on immigration vowing to deport 11 million illegal immigrants en masse and pillorying his GOP primary rivals as favoring amnesty.
But 11 weeks before the election, Trump is suddenly sounding a lot like the opponents he repeatedly ridiculed.
The nominee and his campaign aides are now talking openly about requiring illegal immigrants to pay back taxes and potentially allowing those without criminal records to stay in the country lines that Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida repeatedly used in the GOP presidential primary. Trump also says that any softening of his position wont include a path to citizenship consistent with the way former Florida governor Jeb Bush described how he would provide legal status for undocumented immigrants.
The shift, if it sticks, marks a dramatic turnabout for a nominee who repeatedly attacked Bush, Rubio, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and other primary rivals as weak and spineless on immigration, and who repeatedly vowed that he would never waver in his push to deport everyone in the United States who is here illegally.

WP is an ars hole club of fools. Trump believes in law and order and he has to stay with currents laws passed by the Senate and House over many years to deal with removing illegals. He does not have the right to just make it an order or we have lost the Constitutional law. If these ars holes do not like it then have the Senate and House pass new laws.
Trump for President.
Because if they get to stay every single state turns into California withon 10 years. And a lot of people know that. Yeah Hillary would be worse but wth?!?! Why can’t anyone stand up for Americans?!
By saying what? Enforcing current law?
The comPost is delusional.
The funny thing is, if he really WAS sounding like Jeb, they ought to praise him....
Yet these people keep posting this sh*t over and over.
Very curious.
“””....lets all believe the Washington Post.”””
It is not that we will believe WAPO and other leftist MSM.
The problem becomes one where the ill-informed or the unsure voter is swayed by these stories proclaiming Trump is now in favor of more illegals coming into the USA.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of the voters still get their news from MSM sources or they do not watch or read any news but listen to Hollywood or TV entertainment.
OK...OK...I get it.Yes,the laws *already on the books* are as clear as can be.But then so is the 2nd Amendment, except to 44% (currently 50%) of our Supreme Court judges and 50% of our major Party Presidential candidates. It's not the clarity of the laws that is the problem...it's 500,000 Marxist lawyers, hundreds and hundreds of Carter/Clinton/Obama (and Clinton?) appointees and at least half of our current Supreme Court judges.
And that is why I don’t fall in love with politicians. You can take a good man and send him to Washington and he becomes a politician.
Bezos: OK, run with it boys
Slim/Murdoch: No problemo, tomorrows ed.
Neither ever said NO CITIZENSHIP - try again ash hole.
Neither ever said NO CITIZENSHIP - try again ash hole.
Sure, you can say it.
Now just pronounce it after me.
WET-—BACK.
Now try it again; WET—BACK.
Once more; WET-BACK.
OK, last time; WETBACK.
See it’s easy if you just practice a little.
Thats our language and pronunciation lesson for today; your homework assignment will be to understand and use the term ILLEGAL ALIEN in a complete sentence.
(snicker,snicker)
Careful what you ask for.
In millions and millions of cases those taxes were paid. And that could be a really big problem vis-a-vis social security.
My recollection of events and the 1986 "reform" is that the law was ignored as both federal government and business made it known that there would be no enforcement -- virtually inviting everyone to come on in!
Even the SSA appears to have gone along. They would send out "no match" letters to employers but that was about it.
The numbers exploded during the 1990's and continued on into the 21st century. here is an indication of the numbers
In its report on major management and performance challenges for SSA, published on Nov. 10, 2014, the SSAs Office of Inspector General said an additional 89.7 million no-match W-2s had accumulated in the SSAs records over the most recent ten years on record. These included 6.9 million in 2012.The Earnings Suspense File (ESF) is the Agencys repository of wage reports on which wage earners names and SSNs fail to match SSAs records, said the IG. Per the latest available data, the ESF had accumulated over $1.2 trillion in wages and 333 million wage items for Tax Years 1937 through 2012. In Tax Year 2012 alone, SSA posted 6.9 million wage items, representing $71 billion, to the ESF. From Tax Years 2003 to 2012, the ESF grew by approximately $749 billion in wages and 89.7 million wage items, representing about 62 percent of the total wages and 26 percent of the total wage items.
re: amnesty
none of the Earnings Suspense File (ESF) repository of wage earner names, SSNs, and amounts withheld for taxes can be deleted without transferring to SSA master files. That means as "amnesty" is granted the work done illegally can be converted to SS qualifying status -- that will be one hell of multi-billion dollar IT contract to sort it all out.
Personlly I feel nevertheless that.. the federal government and business invited them in -- but should they get SS credit for working illegally? Or even credit that could even qualify them for some kind of low-income "refunds"?
Hey,fair enough...but I was once banned (long ago) for using it.IIRC it was a month.
“it’s 500,000 Marxist lawyers, hundreds and hundreds of Carter/Clinton/Obama (and Clinton?) appointees and at least half of our current Supreme Court judges.”
They are only an impediment to Trump if he agrees to let them be.
I say he just does it, and if those lawyers and judges want to lie down in front of the tanks, good riddance.
He also indicated that even then they might not be able to get back in.
Here is his interview with Anderson Cooper yesterday, I like the way he kept beating up Cooper:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQgMZaEVlds
He is still going to build the wall.
That would be fun to watch...but you've gotta admit that such a scenario would result in repeated cries for impeachment.
I listen to Trump’s spoken words not the WP’s or any MSM interpretation!-)
Go Trump Go!
If true, Jebbie should be out praising Trump for “seeing the light”. Instead he’s still out there with his pouty face bashing Trump. I love how the media goes to the losers for comment and they are happy to oblige. Including weasel Ted Cruz. I hope his career is over and he loses the Senate race as well.
Your inane answer tells all the rest of us that even you know you lost the argument.
