To “conquer the west” you need only control what they are trained, how they communicate, and who decides who leads them. You do NOT need to control all of those who control, but only enough (over time) to tune the control knob in the direction you want.
once you have control of that knob - once you have control of the “feelings” or “morals” of the controllers (like today - the press does not WANT to find ANYTHING out about Hillary’s crimes, but instead is DESPERATE to “see history made” by her coronation as the first woman president - an event THEY enabled! - then the opposing and rational voices are squeezed out of the marketplace for ideas.
