Trump: No Citizenship For People In US Illegally For Long Period, But ‘They’ll Pay Back Taxes,’ ...

On Wednesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stated that people who have been in the US illegally for a long period of time won’t get citizenship “have to pay taxes, there’s no amnesty as such. There’s no amnesty. But we work with them.”

Trump was asked, [relevant exchange begins around 3:30] “[Y]ou’re not a criminal alien, you committed no crimes, but you didn’t respect our laws and sovereignty. You also seem to be indicating there might be something other than they have to go back. Am I reading that right?”

He answered, “Look, we have to follow the laws of our country.”

Trump then asked the audience what should be done about people who have been in the US for a long time and has been “terrific.”

After asking this question of his audience two more times, Trump was asked, “So, you’re saying there is — and you have been sort of indicating that there’ll be some flexibility that you — originally you had said they were all out, and there was a big brouhaha, but you’re saying that if somebody can prove that they’ve been here, proven to be a citizen, but here’s the big question, though, no citizenship?”

Trump responded, “No citizenship. Let me go a step further, they’ll pay back taxes, they have to pay taxes, there’s no amnesty as such. There’s no amnesty. But we work with them.

There are provisions for work permits in the law. That is “legal status” without the benefits of being a citizen.

Trump has said, IIRC, no kmore “earned income credit”, and E-verify for real, and stiffer penalties for employers who hire illegals.

Please communicate your concerns to the Trump people. Everyone needs to do this, he needs to HEAR from his supporters. I have, the morning after listening to him use the word “softening” on the Hannity town hall part 1. I am giong to continue having my say. We need to speak up about this.

Watch the Hannity interview.

In it he asks the audience if they think the nice ones should be able to stay.

He says they’ll have to pay back taxes, and won’t be given citizenship.

It will take the ACLU about ten minutes to file suit claiming that makes them second class people in our nation, and the court will agree. End of blocking citizenship.

Then no welfare, no free healthcare, no public education, no S.S., no voting rights and immediate deportation for any criminal act. Here to work only, then go home within x days.

That’s not the current law. I hope it becomes the law. My wife and I are getting really tired of keeping 5 or 6 other families afloat with our income taxes.

A work permit lasts six years. As part of that program, guess what happens after six years. People under that program are allowed to apply for citizenship.

Since when is it the law we give a work permit to all illegal immigrants.

We have traditionally only given them to seasonal workers when we needed them on farms to help harvest crops.

This is not the law.

Yep. If the employer who sponsors them values their services so much, they are the ones who should be footing the bill for healthcare, public education, etc.

That’s the dirty little secret right there, my friend. The safety net that you and I pay for with our tax dollars is subsidizing this cheap low-tech labor for big business.

I also have read somewhere of increasing the penalties for employers who hire illegals. Read the last sentence of the last snip. Read very carefully, his positions are all excellent.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/immigration-reform

Immigration Reform That Will Make America Great Again

The three core principles of Donald J. Trump’s immigration plan

snip

Nationwide e-verify. This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.

snip

End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.

snip

Triple the number of ICE officers. As the President of the ICE Officers’ Council explained in Congressional testimony: “Only approximately 5,000 officers and agents within ICE perform the lion’s share of ICE’s immigration mission…Compare that to the Los Angeles Police Department at approximately 10,000 officers. Approximately 5,000 officers in ICE cover 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam, and are attempting to enforce immigration law against 11 million illegal aliens already in the interior of the United States. Since 9-11, the U.S. Border Patrol has tripled in size, while ICE’s immigration enforcement arm, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), has remained at relatively the same size.” This will be funded by accepting the recommendation of the Inspector General for Tax Administration and eliminating tax credit payments to illegal immigrants.

here it is not in context:

This will be funded by accepting the recommendation of the Inspector General for Tax Administration and eliminating tax credit payments to illegal immigrants.

Thank God Trump figured this one out... What the left does is target ONE powerful person at a time. They figure out that person’s weak points, what ‘they’re proud of, what frightens them and what motivates them.

I’m sure they’ve discovered Trump’s a good man who actually cares about protecting others. He’s a ‘protector’... one of the highest forms of human...

Anyhow I’m sure he’s been flooded with ‘cry me a river, very sincere (but totally fake) letters written in Democrat War Rooms. They’ve got is number - and that’s how they’ll hurt him. Remember when George Bush the elder was talked into going back on his ‘NO NEW TAXES’ promise? Same tactics were used - and when Bush switched they pounced on him and used his kindness to tray to destroy him.

We’re dealing with bad people... Trump needs to be careful..

“So it’s your learned opinion that we have laws in our nation that state state when illegals have evaded the authorities for 15-20 years, they are then allowed to pay back taxes and stay?”

Wow, where did you get this claptrap from? Trump hasn’t said this. He has stated clearly “We’re going to enforce the law.” Perhaps you should watch his rallies & numerous interviews where he has stated this over & over again. Stop regurgitating MSM FUD, k?

Vote Trump 2016

“You need to watch the Hannity interview and pay attention.”

I have watched both nights. Trump was great. You hand wringers’ keep pulling things out of context/parsing & just “happen” to spew a current “never-trump” talking point but you have a long list of posts to prove you support Trump lol. Have a nice day :)

Then you didn’t pay attention.

Look, I have have supported and defended the guy for a year, but pay attention here.

I’m not asking you not to vote for him, but he is changing what he initially advocated for.

He stated everyone would have to leave and re-enter.

Yesterday he advocated for them only having to register and stay. No they don’t get to vote under his proposed plan, but that won’t be allowed to stand.

The ACLU will challenge the non-citizenship status in court, and the court will agree that we can’t have a second class type of legal residency here.

These people will either fall under or Constitution or not, and the courts will confirm that they do, and MUST have all rights afforded to a legal resident of the United States, access to citizenship. You can’t deny that to them.

If they stay, they’ll become citizens.

“He stated everyone would have to leave and re-enter.”

He actually said, “They will have to leave and come back legally.” Lets add that with the rest of what he said, “We’re going to enforce the law.”

Logically this means if we follow the law, folks who broke the law & are deported will not be allowed back in. Those who for whatever reason don’t fit into this category will be allowed back legally. Pretty simple stuff, don’t you agree?

I’m not sure why you refuse to acknowledge it, but Trump polled the crowd and stated he thinks we should find a way to let the nice ones stay.

If they’ve been here 15-20 years, they will be allowed to register, pay back taxes and stay.

What do we know about the illegals? They work in an underground economy. They do not pay taxes.

Under this program, they will be here legally. They will still work in the underground economy, only report a part of their income, and receive EARNED INCOME TAX CREDITS.

What back taxes they do pay will be paid with EITC money, your tax dollars hard at work.

Guess what else. They will never pay taxes. They will earn a comfortable living, only claiming partial income, and be subsidized until the day they die.

Does that sound like a good plan?
