Turkey launched its most ambitious operation of the Syrian conflict on Wednesday with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying it targeted the double threat from Islamic State extremists and Syrian Kurdish militias.

Turkey says the air and ground operation dubbed "Euphrates Shield" will clear jihadists from the Syrian town of Jarabulus, which lies directly opposite the Turkish town of Karkamis.

The operation was launched just days after Ankara appeared to soften its often-confrontational line on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whom Turkey wants to see removed.

Obama uses the foolish Kurds to kill Christian civilians, Erdogan uses Obama to screw the Kurds, Assad helps Turkey kill and rout the Kurds with US "Advisors" among them, Russia sits back and laughs, and Assad will outlast Obama in office for sure.

NATO is indeed outraged, has been since they invaded Serbia to install the Islamic terrorist KLA in Kosovo.

August 24th, is the birthday when the Ottomans sparked their takeover of the Middle East at the Battle of Dābiq, defeating the Mamluk Sultanate on August 24th 1516, near the town of Dabiq in Syria. And it is today that began the land invasion of Turkey’s largest intervention in Syria ...500 years to the day - that's why.

The machinations are this: Iran and Turkey are in competition for the premier influence in the middle east or vis-a-vis the Caliphate.

It’s no mere coincidence that Turkey made up with Israel.

Interesting, Erdogan acts like Turkey should lead the emerging Caliphate, that would restore the Ottoman Empire.

Good point. Erdogan would dearly love to do away with Assad, so this looks to me like a smokescreen.

” IS” cleared out of. there before the Turkish invasion

The Turks target was the YPG Kurds that the U.S. in propping uo as a “ democratic” anti Assad rebel group. Our goal is to further the destabilization of SYRIA. By whatever means.

Problem is the YPG expects to get its own Kurdistan out of this and neither Erdigan NOR Assad wants that. so the Kurds are getting played and Russia in picking off Turkey as another “ fiormer” US ally

The Iranians have a large bounty out for capture of Americans so this is going to end in disaster for some poor order- obeying American troops illegally inserted into Syria

A few days ago, a Major in the IDF said the report of Turkey going into Syria to fight isis is a lie, they are there to fight the Kurds.

Of course the Turks use every opportunity to kill Kurds. I do not write the headlines, nor can I change them.

My comments center around the Kurds getting screwed by Obama and everybody else, however it is becoming their own fault as they signed on with Obama, alienated those that protected them, and now they get their reward for doing so.
