They don’t leave the area when the kiddos fledge but they spend their time elsewhere. They’ll occasionally pop in at the nest but it’s rare. I guess they just want to make sure it’s still there.

But yeah, it must have been a surprise to see all the nestorations the ospreys have done this year. LOL!

They’ll show up more often starting sometime in Dec. and Momma will start making the nest just the way she wants it in Jan. She has a LOT of Spanish moss to dig the nest cup in this time and that’ll keep the eggs, and later the babies, nice and snug next year.

Last year was my first year to watch this nest, too, and I wasn’t sure when they started getting things ready for the next clutch of eggs.

I just hope all the babies survive this coming year. Last year was a real bummer!
