At a beach, I wear a surf shirt with a modest suit bottom. Sun protection and middle aged thighs. Out of the water I add a broad brimmed hat, and sometimes a cover up and a long sleeved shirt. Ive seen Amish and Charedi Jewish women splashing in long black skirts. If a Muslim woman wants to do the same, so what?

I am having chemotherapy right now and have lost my hair. I prefer a scarf to a wig and the other day I turned around and a Muslim woman wearing a scarf was smiling at me. I don’t wear my scarf tied like she did but apparently she felt some kind of a connection to me.

It was creepy.
